I hope you have a good trip @coccinella.

Our phone is still out of order. Internet went too for a while this morning. A withheld number has been ringing so OH rang the hospital with my French mobile to see if it was them which it was. They told him that he mustn't go anywhere as he will have his op as soon as the ward is free of Covid and it may be short notice. He is marked as urgent. I wish they would repair our phone. Internet went for a while this morning too.

Windy and chilly but blue sky, may do some gardening.

At that point Internet went. I went outside to rake up 2 barrowloads of weeds and man from BT came. We now have phone and Internet and Internet is better than it has been for some time.Ā

Afternoon all, that is so much better news @Busy-Lizzie and @Pat E, but frustrating for @coccinella.

I had to take my new reading glasses back to the opticians this morning as although supposed to be exactly the same prescription as my old ones, the new ones were worse.
I ended up getting a refund. The new bifocals were fine, very odd.

Luckily it was dry when I caught the bus into town, rained on the bus going home but had stopped when I got off, then rained again heavily as soon as I got home. Still raining now and forecast to be so for the next 36 hours.

No chance then of planting a new rose just yet. I also need to drive to Argos to collect a new reading floor lamp and shelving unit for the revamped laundry cupboard after the boiler's being moved. The fitter has very kindly said he'll put it up for me.Ā  Argos will have to wait until Friday when it's supposed to be dry.Ā

I'm a bit concerned that the new father and child floor lamp takes halogen lamps not LED, am I going to have problems sourcing halogen ones in the future do you think?

So sorry to hear this @Pat E.Ā  But a diagnosis often helps to get an understanding of why one feels as one does and I'm glad you got some reassurance from your GP - but what a gruelling trip!

Good luck to everyone else with ailments and hospital appointments.Ā  I think all of the UK is hoping against hope that we won't need an ambulance or a trip to A&E.Ā  Glad your son had a good experience though @Dovefromabove.

Fingers firmly crossed for you @Busy-Lizzie!Ā  I think a celebration is in order when C. finally gets his op!Ā  Dove - do we have a group fridge for the champagne?

I don't think you'll have any problem sourcing halogen light bulbs @Lizzie27 - plenty of online stores do them, even if your local ironmonger/SM doesn't.

I'm still up to my eyes in paperwork and now there are more meetings getting put in the diary.Ā  There is some proper funding available for projects in our region so of course everyone is scoping out how the money might be spent before the applications deadline in about 4 weeks time.Ā  My idea is a Food & Drink trail - with the wonderful Fen Farm at the centre of it.Ā  Their Baron Bigod cheese was recently declared the best cheese in the UK!Ā  But it is competitive bidding - so I just have to make sure I meet all the criteria.

There’s a Forkers’ Fridge with plenty of Fizz in our garage @didyw .., there’s also a supply of ā€˜medicinal’ brandy and a part bottle of Bowmore single malt, plus gin, Limoncello, Cointreau, cherry brandy, Amaretto, Tio Pepe and various sherries alongside the usual stock of reds, whites and rosĆ©s … just in case, you understand. We will indeed need to raise a glass or three to Mr and MrsĀ @Busy-Lizzie on the big day šŸ„‚ šŸ¾Ā

Thank you. OH would like a gin and tonic or white wine, I likeĀ Limoncello, Cointreau, cherry brandy, Amaretto, sweet sherry and Prosecco. Look forward to it! šŸ˜€

Mole man said he'd come and look at the lawn this afternoon. It's almost dark and he hasn't come.

  • Evening all,

Sorry to hear the woes of @Pat E & @coccinella, health issues are so difficult to deal with.Ā

Absolutely everything crossed for C @Busy-Lizzie. I'll certainly join you in raising a glass when it happens.Ā

So many issues here to deal with, I won't go into them all, but I'm not feeling too clever. All very difficult at the moment. Ever onwards....

I cleared all the cookies on my iPad a couple of days ago, but didn’t have my password handy to sign back in. Such a lot has been going on with you all. Hugs to all trying to get medical problems sorted out. Is it the time of year, all seems to be happening at once?
Ā I have a hospital appointment tomorrow but am hoping I’ll be seen on time. Since Covid, it seems that the emphasis is on reducing crowds concentrating in the waiting rooms, Ā (apart from A and E) and I think my appointment is the first of the afternoon session. Sadly heard that a relative’s sister in law has died suddenly, in her fifties, with school aged children, was suffering from flu. Determined to make the most of every day, and be thankful for them.
Keep strong, DordogneDamsel, hope it all plods on satisfactorily. Hope Punkdoc and Hostafan are both doing ok?

I hope the mole man comes Ā @Busy-Lizzie Ā Ā even if it's dark, it won't matter because they are all blind!!!! Ā  And no I haven't been on the Prosecco!!!
