That's a really lovely rose @Busy-Lizzie, I meant to buy one for our 25th last year but never got around to it and now haven't the space, having bought 6 more roses!
Hope the cornus doesn't regrow.
Just a reminder in case anyone's looking in - GW on tonight at 8pm.
Lovely day making Mince Pies and marzipaning cakes, more Christmas pudding mix in soak overnight. Charlie home for the weekend, I'm happy.
I introduced a local author to an association this morning to give a talk on his books. He was very popular and sold a dozen books, so he's happy and the members were happy. I was just relieved, always a worry recommending people. Beautiful books though.
I'm also helping re-launch a Book Club on Tuesday, I do seem to get myself into stuff I haven't really got time for, but I'm passionate about reading and love discussing books, so I'm really hoping it will get going.
My biggest task this weekend though is getting the last of my bulbs in. Then perhaps, like someone else mentioned, I won't feel like a fraud posting on a gardening site. 😁

Morning @Pat E, so glad to hear that you are feeling better, but just take it easy for a little longer. @didyw, I used to love the Christmas markets, we do have a small one here in the village church hall, lots of crafts and stuff suitable for prezzies plus tea and gorgeous cakes to munch on while gossiping and catching up on local news. I see Busy has been busy as usual, I hope the rose survives for you. Enjoy your weekend with Charlie DD, did you mention what bulbs you are planting, apologies if I missed it. Glad to hear that your gas has been connected so promptly Dove, is it part of your cooking/heating system? Welcome @CrankyYankee looking forward to hearing news from your part of the world. Have a lovely weekend folks, it's going to be a cold one I think but possibly rain free!
I hope your OH has a video camera ready @Pat E 🤸♀️ 🤸♂️ 🤸🏻 😉 Yes @AnnaB 😊 this house is quite a modern design and we have gas central heating and a gas hob. We do have a flame-effect electric fire in behind glass in a ‘hole in the wall’ and until Putin it was all relatively economical to run and easy to keep clean … luckily I was raised and spent a lot of my light in draughty old farmhouses so I don’t expect the whole house to be toasty warm and if I feel chilly I put on another layer rather than turn the thermostat up. We use our slow cooker a lot … yesterday I made a chicken korma in it, and when the gas didn’t come back on at 4 as expected, I added a bit more liquid and stirred some rice into the korma and turned it into more of a biryani style dish. It worked well. 😋
I’ve still got some little narcissi to pop into pots @D0rdogne_Damsel … must get on with it …
