@Fairygirl, I hope you get your walking boots back on soon, it's always a pleasure to hear about your trips into the hills and seeing your photos. Being on the Lakeland fells has added poignancy since my brother passed away suddenly last year. He completed all 214 Wainwrights, many were done in less than ideal weather, he was planning on revisiting some of his favourites but sadly never got the chance.
Lovely day in the Lakes at Buttermere, some sun and rain giving an ever changing landscape. Took this from near the summit of Mellbreak, looking back down to Buttermere and the surrounding fells. It's not a ' honeypot' fell so we didn't see another soul 😊
So sorry about your brother @scroggin, and I know what you mean about 'less than ideal weather'. It's what you do though. Nice that you can maybe do the returning in his place. I know what you mean about getting hills to yourself too. The hill in my current signature strip pic was like that - only met one other person, and he was coming back down when I was about half an hour in. Long drive for me first though [4 hours] so didn't start until a bit later. A great day, and well worth it I can be more choosy now re weather, but if I can get my a*se in gear it would help.
Have you been back up here recently?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I watch a lot of programmes on BBC Alba. Alas, I just have to be content with that for the forseable future. What a stunning landscape. Hope you can go soon @scroggin and @Fairygirl!
Last day in Buttermere, the day dawned with clear skies, however by the time we'd had breakfast and set out the cloud descended. It wouldn't be a trip to the Lakes without the obligatory clagged out summit picture 🤣 , something I'm sure @Fairygirl is familiar with. As forecast the sun burnt through the clouds to reveal the fells in all their glory.

Glad you got some good weather though, but it's always a bit of a downer when the summits are a bit...well..like that...
