Morning all. Another cold, white start. -3C at the moment - got down to -10.7C on Mon night at the airfield OH sometimes attends near Stansted) brrrr.

He is supposed to be flying today but the aircraft are parked outside and the chances of them thawing enough to fly safely are pretty remote. Think about de-icing the car - but on steroids. Not only the windows & lights have to ice free but also the wings / body work etc

I have my pneumo jab late this afternoon so I'll while away the hours until then doing admin stuff.

Ante - sorry your team didn't win. Have to say Argentina were quite impressive and it was a clean match. Lovely pics of the snow.

    LB - pretty tree

Debs - pace yourself - you'll be worn out by next week!
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
  • There’s sunshine through the cold.  Wrap up warm to the shops LB, hope you get everything.  Ante hope you’ll have a lovely walk with Max.  Wishing all a good day.

    Good afternoon,
it’s another frosty day, but clear and bright. We took the family wreathes up to the cemetery a short while ago, and it was bitter cold up there. Back now and having a warming coffee to thaw out, then I’ll go and prepare tonight’s chilli to go in the slow cooker.
We had a lovely Christmas lunch at the GC yesterday. Everything was beautifully cooked. There was so much that we didn’t need any tea later.
    Keep warm, everyone.

    Afternoon all.

Red Maple, I'm glad that you had lovely Christmas lunch.

Here was whole day grey, but little bit warmer. As T'bird and LB said, yesterday's match was very clean, and Argentina was better.
I feel quite festive, my tree is inside, and most important, my lights are turned on. It's quite lovely.
Now is time to think about dinner. My pets are already fed, and they are all sleeping.

Good afternoon all. I have had a lazy day today. Had to spend some time on the phone chasing up my bird food order which is unusual but the lady I spoke to said it would be leaving the depot today and should be with me either tomorrow or Friday. I will never believe that 'next day delivery' promise again.
Ruby, I really do not like fog at all - especially when I am driving.
Debs, I put out my paper bin in the last of the light this afternoon for tomorrow's collection. Just have to put out the milk bottle and I can lock down for the evening.
Wow T'Bird, that is acres of defrosting to do but will/did any flying get done today at all? I hope you don't get any bad reaction to your pneumo jab.
Rosie it was lovely and sunny here but only -1°C. I had to got out and refresh the birdbath as one of my blackbirds came down to get a drink and at that time it was only solid ice. I might have to do that again tomorrow.
Red maple. I'll bet your kitchen is full of delicious cooking smells and what could be nicer on a winter's day than a warming chilli?
Ante, I am happy to read that you have got the lights on your tree on. Enjoy your dinner.

    Hello all.

I'm glad you enjoyed your lunch at the GC @Red maple.

I braved the ladder and the loft so now we have a crib, there are more decorations on the little tree and the sitting room has some tinsel and glass balls hanging off the beams.

I sorted out my mother's little desk that she left a note in before she died to say she wanted it to go to me. That took a while, so much sentimental stuff in there, but also a lot of rubbish. There was a lovely photo of my brother who died when he was 21 and some letters he wrote when he was at boarding school.

I ended up with an empty drawer to keep Christmas cards, lists and letters in. I found the Christmas card box in the loft and a bag of new cards that I bought last winter when in Norfolk. I should have enough for next year. I also found a couple of boxes of crackers that I will take to Son 2's.

The hot flat thing hasn't been touched.

My new photo album should have been delivered today by the postman. I was in all day but I found a note in the letter box to say he couldn't deliver it as I was out and to go and pick it up from the Post Office tomorrow.

Hi LB. It's nice to have a lazy day, especially when is cold outside. I see that you also have problems with delivery, welcome to the club. I have my outside light on, my tree will wait few more days. I only brought him inside from the garden.

Here is my potted tree. I'm very happy how it looks, evenly shaped from all sides. And smell is divine.

Busy - another one with delivery problems. Don't you just get so annoyed when they say that you were out when you know that you were in all day? That has happened before to me. You have had quite a poignant time today going through the little desk and how lovely to find the picture of your brother.
Ante, I was guessing that you meant your outside tree lights. Your tree is such a beautiful shape and it has persuaded me that next year I am going to have a real tree - a bit bigger than my tiny tree though as I too love the smell.

    Evening all,

Another cold day here but I've stayed out of it. Bit of wall painting in between some unmentionables and renewing my car insurance.

To add to the delivery tales of woe, I was at the kitchen sink this morning when I saw a bloke wandering around my back garden holding a package. When he saw me, he made his way back round to the front door, where he thrust the parcel into my hand, muttered something about banging on the door for ages and grumped over to his van whilst I was apologising for not hearing him knock. When I looked at the parcel, I realised that it was for next door and immediately wanted to retract my apology and give the chap a rocket. I did a stint as a delivery driver in my yoof and wouldn't have dreamt of being so rude or wandering round people's gardens. Especially if the parcel I was trying to deliver had nothing to do with them! I do wonder where he was planning on sticking it as he had moved wheely bins out of the way to get down the side of the house and appeared to be heading for the shed?
