The light is different this afternoon. Strange!

  • Good morning everyone,  bright start here, up a bit early for us, body clock has not caught up with the clock change .  Good to see you @Pat E, sorry but that colour sky often means snow here.
I ventured to the Allotments yesterday,  OH drove me. Just collected some spuds from the store, and some fruit. Picked yet more tomatoes,  plus a little bit of broccoli. It was good.
It been so mild the spuds were sprouting already,  in spite of them being in a well insulated dark shed. I  am going to have to go through them all as soon as I'm a bit fitter.  Hopefully the predicted cooler weather will help.

Morning all, Lovely pictures  @Pat E, we live close to the Pyrenees mountains which are shrouded in cloud this morning so not good for taking a picture. Very Autumnal this morning and maybe just maybe we will have some rain later. Our strict drought regulations are still in force at least till the end of November, so we are all praying for rain!

    Morning all.

We  go back to France tomorrow. I have bits an pieces to do today, change the bedding, pack my bag, wash the kitchen floor, empty the fridge and compost bucket.

The flight is earlier than usual which means the train to the airport is more expensive and we'll have to change trains. I hope OH can manage it. There isn't much time between the train connection. I wish he'd booked a taxi for the whole journey. It would only have been £20 more and I could have shared the cost, but he is proud and stubborn.

Good luck with the travel @Busy-Lizzie.  And yes, that does look like snow @Pat E. Lovely sunshine here and even though it is unseasonably warm I'm pretty sure most of us here in the UK are happy to be keeping our heating costs down for a bit longer.
Those cakes @D0rdogne_Damsel!  Wow!  Good luck with your negotiations.  I think your reasoning is right - Charlie will, as he finds his own way and new friends have less need of you and he will be grateful that you have your own life and not dependent on his happiness for yours.  But you have such a strong relationship it can take whatever happens.
More admin. today.  But I must clear my work area - papers, notebooks everywhere, so messy.
    See you all in November!

How very tactfully put, BusyLizzie! You had better practice your ‘I told you so ‘ expression, so you won’t have to say it out loud!
With all the rail strikes and general disruption going on, is there any chance you could cancel your train tickets without penalty, and book the taxi instead?

Hope it all goes smoothly. Speak to the guard on the first train, and let them know you have a tight connection for the next train. If there are any unforeseen delays, they can sometimes be helpful with assistance to get quickly from one platform to the next, or advice on alternative routes if you should be very unlucky.

Afternoon folks, rain has stopped play here but I managed to hoick out most of the box stumps I had left to do. Wanted to get them all out because of the wet weather forecast for the next few days. Did think of planting Tete'n'Tete daffs in the same place on the edge of the lawn if I can still get hold of some but not too convinced it would be a good idea - OH would probably decapitate them when he mows the lawn!

Nice to see you 'chatting' again @Pat E, hope your journey and tests tomorrow goes well.

@Busy-Lizzie there's only one word for it - Men!! Do hope your journey to France is uneventful and that you get all your connections in good time.
