@cooldoc You're slacking... I think you really need a few more... buy, buy, buy !.. actually you've got double what I have now, look forward to seeing all those later on..
I wish I understood Emoji's.. but I think I've got the message after some perusal.. Sum us all up doesn't it..
Nice handiwork Mr Vine.. I like the twirly bits, rather professional that..
'Love Song' is a nice colour, sort of lavender pink?..
Well, how about this, which I've just been alerted to.. I'm not expecting much uptake here, but thought to mention it anyway... Got £8000 to spare? fancy a rose holiday in Australia and NZ? all in the company of ex DA Michael Marriott and Paul Zimmermann - nice work if you can get it.. I think they make a good couple actually, quite amusing, with good sense of humour..
The itinerary is worth a read in itself, but as a nervous flyer, I'm afraid I have to pass..
Few examples of why I am scared to expand.. other than the obvious lack of space..
Lost almost all the new buds of first flush in May.. only the new roses were relatively ok.. New growths were disfigured as well.. Had to prune/ deadhead most buds.. and then spray to get a proper flush by June end or so.. Post spraying not much issues..
That was very disheartening... din't want to spray either but... thats the reason I am doing a late prune for my climate.. hoping to remove atleast some active critters.. plus to introduce some biological agents for control.. that will cost me lots but I am willing to experiment.. only if the predators were as cold resistant as these 'suckers'..
Hi @Marlorena, you mentioned in your recent post (26/1/23) that in March you 'will sprinkle fertilizer' around your roses, I was wondering what type of fertilizer you use please? thank you.
Was that aphids @cooldoc ? The ladybird larvae were really effective against those (you can order them online!). I had problems with ants farming big fat black aphids later in the season and killing the larvae, did loads of damage, but the ant nematodes (they hate them apparently...) in the pots seemed to sort those out. Ill be on the lookout for those this year before they get a hold. Just found somethings pretty much killed the little amethyst falls wisteria I had (not the huge wisteria I have, thats a triffid...), looked like leatherjackets maybe. I'll be replacing that then
I felt those were Thrips @JessicaS From my comparisons with online pics the damage of new growth and buds matched them.. I had lots of ladybird larvae by then.. plus had added lacewing larvae to all the pots.. was not successful..
@cooldoc Look up Bullnosing in roses, that's what it looks like to me.. I get it here too, usually in Spring as it can be caused by cold nights, but also Boron deficiency. We might have had this conversation before, but that's my take on it..
@Meomye Heya... well I like to use a product called Vitax Azalea, as my soil is high PH. It's good for roses too, David Austin used the same formula for his fertilizer. However, any Rose fertilizer will do the job, for many years I used 'Toprose', which is a powdered type and easy to apply. I always found it gave excellent results.. you can buy it anywhere.. 2 small handfuls sprinkled around the base of rose in Spring.. repeated in July..
my bare root roses arrived already on Wednesday . While I was traveling .
So jobs for this weekend . Plant and try to sort one of the guirlande .it is a monster in disguise .. Silas marner ( middle ) , left Baron, right Scentimental

But the stays seems expensive as well.. Good trip if you have some money to spare.. saw that they have 9 day options as well..
