very busy at work. I am enjoying all rose pics and new border updates. And lovely cuddly smudge.

Nothing to report from my garden, it is swinging between soggy and frozen states. Atleast I am not feeling bad about not getting any time to prune. I did prune some pots and some roses in border in Nov, so will be interesting to see how far ahead they will be with those which will be hopefully pruned in Feb I think.

You're right, @bédé - it could of course have been much worse, if the tree had fallen during the day.  We've had a tree surgeon to report and he's found decay in the other trunks as well, so it will have to go...  particularly sad as we will then have no trees between us and the road, in the front garden.  The three mature rowans which were here when we moved in three years ago have all succumbed to honey fungus now.

Roses are listed as "sometimes susceptible" so I'm keeping my fingers crossed, and not planting my new purchases where I thought I might.  Still, it's an opportunity for further garden plans (and purchases, once we've got over the shock of paying to have the trees removed).   :)

@Nollie the advice for pruning weeping standards is to remove overcrowded branches and prune back to one third to half their original length.

    Loving all those winter shots..

and then there is 'Smudge' <3

was busy with night shifts, but I am sure it wasn't as cold as the east here.. expected to be -4 tonight.. will see if I can get any of those wintery pics tomorrow..

Did you get your 'Fur Elise' Marlorena? HMF lists two roses with the same name.. both apparently strongly scented..

No not yet.. it was a TCL order for the Kordes rose, but I expect it'll be available here in a year or two..  I'm pondering, which is half the fun ..

Tantau has run out of names I guess.. some of their new roses like Deep secret, Tropicana, etc have similar colour as their older counterparts..

Some breeders like pheno geno goes a step further and adds 'Sense of Love' collection which is supposed to be fragrant than their 'Fragrant/Frayla' collection... :|
