I've got 6 roses in a roughly 12 foot border but it's wider and they are staggered..

I think in a narrower border, I would go with 3 larger ones, 4.5 feet plus, separated by 4 or 5 feet, or 5 smaller ones which are under 4 feet tall.. as I like to leave room for companion plants, or fill in with other things while they develop..

@WAMS I've had roses in late November/early December, so our season is quite long. We do get unbearable heat/humidity for much of the summer, though, so roses will take a break in blooming.

Nice to see some early roses from afar... Bolero is just super.

Paul Zimmerman gardens in Georgia I think.. the northern part of the State..

That's such a neat drawing of your border @owd potter guessing you are a landscaper by profession..

@JessicaS I don't own Earth angel (in my wish list) but I believe that too has fragrant cupped blooms.. I am sure some of us here own it..

Freezing nights this week.. I have some bareroot perennial which was shipped on 26th.. is it advisable to pot them up now? most pots will be of similar size to the ones they ship potted roses..

Is it just me, or has everyone's location disappeared?

Yes I would pot them up.   If they are hardy perennials I might plant them direct in the ground but depends what it is.. bare root daylilies for instance, do need to be potted up first and grown on..
