That woman is an ebayer who rips off Ashridge Nurseries' good name. I got a rose from her as an experiment (for about £15)... it was tiny and arrived badly mildewed.
Ridiculous to try to charge that. You may as well buy five or six Mary Roses from DA and sit out in your garden waiting for them to mutate into Winchester Cathedral.
@badgerwatch - that’s shocking! That conversation sounds almost like it’s an automated robot talking to you 🤖 It’s bad hence the high price 😂 just……wow
Is WC particularly sought after then?
@Fire I certainly would yes! 😂 Hope it’s nothing too serious. Also, if you want Kordes roses I have been recommended a Netherlands website as it’s difficult to get them in UK. It’s about £20 delivery to Uk but most Kordes bare roots are less than £5. I’ve order 8 bare roots and including delivery works out about £7 per root. It was recommended to me by someone in the UK. Mine are coming in November and will report back what they are like.
@Alfie_ Winchester Cathedral has recently been discontinued, like quite a few others from David Austin this year such as Munstead Wood. It has led to a mad scramble to get the roses no longer available, and crooks selling them at stupid prices.
I don't think Lottum despatch DAs to England, or am I wrong?
As Fire said, they abruptly discontinued many of David Austin Sr's roses recently, at least 12 (Tess, Alnwick, Jude, Lady Emma H, Shropshire Lad, Darcey Bussell, Munstead Wood, Winchester Cathedral, Crown Princess M, Brother Cadfael etc, some of which were very in demand) as well as ceased to stock many old garden roses, hence a lot of people desperately seeking X and Y.
2litre Munstead Woods are available from here now for £25. They ship in England for £15. Not cheap but better than nothing if you really want to try the rose. I may have succumbed.🙈 https://www.windlestonenursery.co.uk/rose-munstead-wood-2l
When my Munsteads are established I will try to take some cuttings... They are struggling in the ground - possible because they are planted too near other roses. I will try them in pots this winter.
I also want to try that! Found Gertrude J and Gabriel Oak very easy to root in the end... more luck rooting DA cuttings than other breeders' roses so far.

I bitterly regret not buying Munstead Wood while I had the chance, so I just popped two from the above seller into my basket. £60 including delivery.
But they don't deliver up here. It would cost £50-£100 for delivery.
£30 each was a lot, but petrol to my nearest garden centre costs ( not that they'd have it, as you know) but there is a limit and that's over it.
Marlorena recommended Royal Purple as an alternative so I'll probably try that.
Edited to add. As they are in the North East of England (I'm in the North West) I have requested a quote for delivery.
Office hours Mon-Fri @Fire Also no price, so I put the rose into search and no results. Maybe sold out?
It does seem that careful door to door delivery is very expensive. I'll see what comes from the nursery in the NE, but may resign myself to thinking that it may not have thrived here anyway!
