I had trouble digging my potted roses up to give to my daughter. The 60cm 23 inch pots were full of roots.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I am in process of planting out roses from pots and amount of fibrous roots differ a lot from rose to rose.

My experience is the same as newbie's, it varies between roses. I have done a lot of repotting and some planting out this winter and I cannot predict which rose will have a big rootmass. The roses have been in pots between 2 and 4 years so nothing too ancient though.

^nicely trained rose, just how I like to see it, and isn't it nice to see all those shoots popping out..

Glad to see your 2 roses showing signs of life Nollie..

Bright and beautiful standards!  Would look splendid in the sunshine.

Is it OK to leave these name tags on the roses for the first season? I normally take them off, but having added a fair few roses this winter I can't keep track of what's what without consulting the labels yet. Do the labels hurt the rose or restrict its growth at all if they are slightly loose like this?
