2litre Munstead Woods are available from here now for £25. They ship in England for £15. Not cheap but better than nothing if you really want to try the rose. I may have succumbed.🙈

I bitterly regret not buying Munstead Wood while I had the chance, so I just popped two from the above seller into my basket. £60 including delivery.

But they don't deliver up here. It would cost £50-£100 for delivery.

£30 each was a lot, but petrol to my nearest garden centre costs ( not that they'd have it, as you know) but there is a limit and that's over it.

Marlorena recommended Royal Purple as an alternative so I'll probably try that.

Edited to add. As they are in the North East of England (I'm in the North West) I have requested a quote for delivery.
I emailed and rang them... despite what the website says, it was £15 to deliver two roses to me down south.  If you email them your phone number they will  take payment by card over the phone.

    Thanks @WhereAreMySecateurs.
There was no reply so I eventually went out working.
When I came in to check at 4pm a reply had come back (but slowly, not the nursery being slow, Emma has sent it at 1.30, just the email taking time) with £15 delivery as you say, so I've rattled off a quick email saying I'd like to order.
Hope I've not missed the roses. 🤞 There was no response when I rang the number.
It's been so wet here that I couldn't stay in waiting for a reply on a dry afternoon. That's life!

Update. I have one rose reserved, and there may be another.
I wish I was more adept at emails etc. I've been all thumbs ( I'll blame it on this morning's flu vaccination....) and had two 'failed delivery' messages so kept on trying.
But at least I have one plant.

    A big thank you @WhereAreMySecateurs.

It's a fine line isn't it, between holding off purchasing something you really like the look of (in my case because reviewers at the time described it as gawky -- the photos on here make this seem irrelevant) and missing the chance?

Really happy for you, @Woodgreen! Good on you for battling through.  I had my heart in my mouth till the order was confirmed, too.

I don't think Lottum despatch DAs to England, or am I wrong?
Well I’ve already placed an order for 8 Kordes bare roots with them so I don’t why they wouldn’t also ship DA’s unless there don’t have a contract to do so maybe. They emailed me the other day to confirm delivery so will email back and ask them about DAs to UK 👍

Hi all, catching up, having finally got rid of all guests, staying on the guise of seeing us but really here to see the new pup!

Very sensible repotting advice @Tack, I will have to rope in a neighbour to help with the GJ beast.

Welcome @Alfie_, your Lion’s Rose is spectacular, it is sold as Champagne Moment in the UK, roses are often licensed under different names in different countries for marketing purposes. I have had a few Kordes, Golden Beauty does very well for me, but it’s a thorny beast with no fragrance so I’m a bit ambivalent about it.

No, sadly Tuincentrumlottum can no longer export DAs to the UK post Brexit/increasingly draconian DA licensing rules, even for out of patent roses.

@owd potter Ebb Tide is still a very small rose for me, it disappears in the border so like Jessica I’m moving it to a pot this year. I don’t get much fragrance either, so it’s interesting others do. Twilight Zone gets better reviews, but I’ve singularly failed to get one in the last two years since it keeps selling out. Cooldoc says it crisps in sun but so does ET for me, purple roses generally do better in morning sun only.

Right, threads probably moved on several pages as I’m typing, will be back later, got a septic tank to service, oh merde!

We've had torrential rain and high winds here ever since Friday and it's been interesting to see which roses have clung on to their blooms and which have just shattered. Unfortunately my new 'Elizabeth' rose which had many blooms has now lost them all. It seems the many petalled roses do that more than the others? I have noticed this morning that my Zephirine Drouhin' has two new small blooms right on top of the rose arch so I must go out and have a closer look.

@Nollie - that is sad they won’t ship DA’s. I guess if their half the prices of the DA website no one would shop with DA. That Kordes rose you have looks lovely online — do you have any pictures of yours? Has anyone got or had any experience of their Dark Desire?

The weather has damaged my Hamilton Princess again! Had lots of buds in the summer then the 42 degree heat wave burnt them to a crisp. They were finally all budding again and the rain has hammered them 😞

    @Lizzie27 I feel for you!

@Mr. Vine Eye - that EH looks stunning. I really wanted this rose but can’t find it anywhere now it’s retired.
