    @Tack previous year when I had to prune them in October for transporting, by Feb/March all had leaved out well.. did you notice any buds?

    @Marlorena did you grow that rose (Louis XIV)? Red and fragrance was the criteria.. will see how it does.. Celine Forestier was only given only a year, even though I liked its bloom colour and form... heard it takes a few years to get going... what worked against it was a poor scent.. not even medium to my nose.. when space is at premium, hard choices had to be made...

    ^striking hellebores.. lots of lovely colour..

    @cooldoc
    In another garden so a while back, I got it from Beales... I was disappointed in the scent and spindly growth that I recall, and replaced with 'Papa Meilland', which also got on my nerves with its nodding blooms..
    Perhaps better in a pot, mine was in the ground...

    I'm surprised you don't have 'Fragrant Cloud'... or do you? I can't remember..

    Had a nice 16C today...

    Beautiful Newbie, just gorgeous Camellia and hellebores. I have to say your travel plans have made me think what I'd do but decided I would impose on family for watering duties, I think I'm probably owed some favours. I hope it rains here during your break but not where you're going. I would  plant the graft 5cm deep and mulch thickly after watering. Did you want new rosebeds or will you dig them up again to pot up?
    I didn't notice buds @cooldoc but I wasn't looking, will inspect tomorrow.
    Nollie, is the disgraced Smudge not as photogenic now??

    Yes clicked sitting down while weeding. Hellebores are beautiful but they nod. Only Niger stays upright but that doesn't grow well in shade, soggy border.

    @Tack, I will leave it as rose bed unless some rose completely dislikes shade location. It will reduce my watering effort.

    I do not have Fragrant Cloud Marlorena.. Have known about it since long time.. possibly from old youtube videos.. everyone mentions it among the strongly scented roses.. but I was not much into the HTs.. as I felt shrub roses looked better in pots.. Last year I introduced a few HTs and liked them.. drawback being the lower part could be a bit sparse.. However, some Tantau HTs branch out well and look bushy.. Fragrant Cloud will definitely be in my waiting list..

    I guess it is definitely worth looking for buds.. I could see on two roses atleast.. but don't get your hopes high.. it keeps us waiting/teasing forever and finally an atypical bloom from those early buds...

    Ok, will remember 5-6 cm and will mulch after planting.

    @Lizzie27, yes it is so expensive. Mulch, MPC everything has gone up in price.
