    Devon.
  • I have a lot of friends who don't drive,we live on the outskirts of a village, stations a couple of miles walk in each direction. Surely, rail strikes will raise the cost of rail travel,or people will stop using the trains, find another way to travel, thus rail company loosing more revenue. As previously said the fat cats can use their limo,it's the poorer working classes who will suffer.

Surely it's  those who NEED the railways who should be defending a decent wage for those who work on them?

Rail tickets are already too expensive for most people unless they can set them against tax.

We'd love to go to Cornwall by train rather than for me to drive all the way ... but you can't book cheaper fares far enough ahead to plan  a holiday.   I try every year.  Crazy.

The privatisation of a vital part of this country's infrastructure was a wicked evil scheme, just as the privatisation of this country's water was.  😡

Someone suggested that rather than striking, they should just let the passengers through without paying .sounds like a more effective strategy to me

  • I imagine they’d be in breach of their contract of employment and liable for the sack.

Not like sacking a train driver I suppose. Ticket collectors probably don't need a lot of training and are easy to replace.
