I remember working in an office where an elderly lady ( well I was very young and she looked awful old), whenever asked to do something, would leaf through a folder of papers before declaring herself too busy to oblige. When she retired, we looked in the folder - nothing but blank sheets of paper. Clever woman!
The railways companies are making huge profits, as @Dovefromabove says, they're happy to dish out money to shareholders. "privitisation" of the utilities , rail etc was just Tory Asset Stripping to line the coffers of their voters and donors.
@Nanny Beach I just express immediate regret and disappointment. Oh! I'm SO sorry. I just won't be able to do that... Never answer questions like What are you doing on Thursday? or Could you do me a little favour? Be uncertain about Thursday, say you hope you can help - but choose carefully and if you don't want to do it, don't do it.
Haha, I m meeting up with my friend Hosta!!! Trouble,is when it's a friend,it's awkward, isn't it. I don't know what time her appointment is. Usually I get "hints", not just from her, but other friends in the past. I have a lot of friends who don't drive. Course, that's not my fault, a lot of it,is an age thing, they're in their 70s mostly (she is 50) so they never bothered to learn. Before I learned.... quite late 30,I cycled,we lived in a Surrey village, long walk to bus stop, one village shop, school, hospital (work)
Does anyone know if there are other rail strikes planned for October? I had a scout around and couldn't see any mentioned. I believe they have to give two weeks notice. Thanks
