  • Morning all,

Big hug to @Hostafan1 very difficult for you. Just try and enjoy the sunshine and not think too much about all the other people.

Last week I went to a parents evening at school (Charlie wasn't invited) and afterwards had dinner in a restaurant in the 'city' as it were. Although I had made a bit of an effort with a dress and lipstick, a rarity for me, I felt desperately old and frumpy in the restaurant. It's was in a big square, all exterior seating and restaurant after restaurant all share the same public space. I was absolutely astonished at how beautiful all the people were, all immaculately dressed in the latest fashion, all the girls slim and beautifully made -up, all the boyz so trendy and all so confidant and happy and laughing.... it did feel all rather unrealistic. How many of those beautiful people are also troubled souls. I did think to myself I am glad I don't live in their world where so much effort has to be made every day. Exhausting.

Am very put out with latest update on my already 3 times/3year delayed holiday, the French air traffic control have a strike planned on the day I am supposed to be flying to Stansted to meet my friends. I might have to take the train now, an 8 hour journey and extra expense....sometimes I think I am not meant to go on this holiday....

Lovely weekend with Charlie, he's gone now again, but was up at 6am raring to go, so pleased for him.  A paperwork day for me today.  :(

Good day to all and again, a special hug/thought for you @Hostafan1

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️
wise words @D0rdogne_Damsel … and anyway, I really am not too concerned with fitting in with the ‘beautiful people’ … I’ve always found the eccentrics of this world to be the most interesting, and am quite content to not fit in … I’ve been a square peg in a round hole most of my life.
I remember when I was working for social services I was being quizzed as to my background by someone in the kitchen. When I mentioned having been to art school she said, ‘That explains it. We thought you didn’t look like one of us. I can’t put my finger on it, but we could see you’re different.’
My thought was ‘Phew! That’s a relief’ 🤣

Hope your travel plans get sorted. 🤞

    Morning all.

Oh what a pain in the neck @D0rdogne_Damsel, so disappointing for you. It's not as though the French air traffic controllers are badly paid either. Was that city Bordeaux? There is a square like that. Now that I'm old and dumpy most of the young look slim and beautiful.

I think we will probably spend a lot of the day in front of the TV. I really need to move some hellebores to a shady corner.

Has @chicky gone to Greece yet? Don't think I've seen her for about a week.

  • Morning all. Went to see my 2 day old granddaughter yesterday. Wasn't sure how it would go with the grandkids, girl 12,boy 11....they weren't particularly enamoured at the idea of a baby, but my granddaughter's sat holding her for ages, stroking her face and hair, saying "she better not wake me up in the night", grandson also fascinated, but too nervous to hold her.

There are some very odd ideas about fashion / beauty.
People watching at the airport I saw some very dodgy , orange, spray on tans , eye lashes which could do a good job sweeping chimneys and some very offensive tattoos. Has anyone seen a " ull sleeve" tattoo on a lady which made her look more attractive?
One girl was wearing tight lycra shorts. I believe the expression is " camel toe " .

it's like a car crash: you know you shouldn't look, but you do, not matter how repulsive.
What's going on with eyebrows these days?

It's a bit like that game 'yellow car' in this house - first one to shout 'eyebrows with a marker pen' wins a point. My theory is that it's why sharpie sales are so high these days
