Morning everyone, yes a definite chill here. We gave in and took the 1 tog duvet off last night and went back to the standard 4.5. A bit of a leap but we don't have anything in between. We find blankets etc on top of things always come off in the middle of the night. My late beans are still cropping well but my original row has more or less stopped., still getting toms and courgettes etc but they are slowing down a great deal. Â
((hugs)) @Hostafan1 ... it's going to take some getting used to ... when we're in a compatible couple we're so used to sharing almost everything that we do, or at least having someone to tell about it when we get home ... holidays can emphasise that a bit ... but we're here ... a friend who went through a tough time on her own used to imagine that her friends were in her handbag and kept a supply of mint humbugs in there for us ... you perhaps don't have a handbag 😉 are you wearing anything with pockets? You can pop us in a pocket to keep you company ... feed us a few biscuits from time to time ... we'll keep you company 🤗 and we'll try to keep the crumbs to a minimum ...Â

@Allotment Boy ... I'm still picking runners from my original double row of Moonlight that I first started picking on 3rd July ... almost another kilo this morning. Its getting ridiculous. I bought a cauliflower for today as we've not had one for ages and I really fancied one ... but what am I going to do with these beans? The freezer is full ...Â

In reply to @Lizzie27: IÂ was remarking only last week that the days of quiet* shifts are long gone. We seem to be seeing more and more challenging situations and complex patients and more frequently.Â
Most staff have their shifts 2-3 months in advance so if they are down to work on Monday then they would have to ask to swap with someone if they would like the day off. Anyone who works in an area that usually have Bank Holidays off (like outpatients, some admin or managerial jobs) will be off.Â
My Sister is going to watch tomorrow’s historic proceedings with four generations of her side of the family. The eldest is 98 and the youngest is 5.Â
Have a pleasant Sunday all.Â

Hosta 💓💓, quick dip in here, to say my latest gorgeous grandaughter arrived on Friday, Violet, after blokes Granny. 7lb, looking forward to meeting her this evening.
Interesting, @AuntyRach, I hadn't realized that rotas were organized that far ahead, I imagine they must be a devil to re-arrange sometimes.
I'm actually rather glad we never got round to planting runner beans @Dovefromabove this year, I've got apples sitting on the draining board waiting to be cooked down but can't seem to find the will to do it.Â
That's tough @Hostafan1 but hopefully dinner out will become easier as the week goes on. Perhaps you could try a different restaurant/cuisine each night and just concentrate on the food? Maybe an outing or two might help. I once went on a wild safari jeep day out in Benidorm of all places and it was great fun with a vehicle full of strangers.
I'm watching the live feed on the queue into Westminster Hall, it's strangely hypnotic to watch and very moving. Just seen the Emperor and Empress of Japan pay their respects and she cried. Apparently the Empress doesn't go out much in public any more so this visit must be quite a strain for her.Â
Right, I'd better get on, a bit restricted this morning as OH has gone back to bed, he didn't sleep well last night so I can't make a lot of noise. I want to try to mow the lawn today but I'd have to push under his bedroom window, it might have to wait.
I just tried to switch the washing machine on and it wouldn't ... OH then said that when he got up this morning the electric alarm clock was flashing, and the kitchen kettle socket didn't work ... he checked the Trips and one had gone, so he flipped it back and everything was ok. He's just manouevred the washing machine out of it's 'kennel' next to the sink and found the fuse in the plug had blown ... he's changed it and it seems to be working ... please will you all cross your fingers that it was 'just the fuse' and not something worse 🤞 ... the washing machine wasn't 'on' overnight ... I never do that, but because its socket is in the wall behind where it lives, it's permanently plugged in and switched on. Daft idea to my way of thinking, but the person who sold us this house was an electrician ... 🙄
