Good morning everyone. I think LB must be tucked up in bed after her journey home yesterday . Ante sorry to read you had a hard day yesterday . I hope today is easier for you . Need tea .
Hello everyone. It is so nice to be back but I miss the warmer temperatures just now. Our flight yesterday was delayed by about 40 minutes due to baggage handling difficulties at Manchester airport. Now where have I heard all that before?? Nothing detracted from a joyous week though. WiFi was sketchy down to nil at the end of the week but, again, that was not a massive problem. It was actually a relief to NOT hear dismal news from the rest of the world. I have had a quick read through - pleased that Hazel and OH are recovered and what fun it must have been having 23 to stop over. Debs, glad the cooker has been mended. That has to have been a relief.
Ante, there were lots of Halloween decorations up and one house, which apparently goes really over the top, it was worth a picture - I'll post some later.
I got a lovely welcome home from Lily, after she worked out it was me who had come into the house. Jack's daughter said she has been fine. I was so happy to see her too. Now to unpack fully and make a shopping list. Enjoy your days.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Good morning Debs and Biglad. Debs, I will be having similar hair treatment next week. I hope that you scuffed through lots of lovely leaves yesterday.
Biglad, it is blowing a hooley here so could be a good day for Lily's TV activities. I've just spent 30 minutes trying to get in touch with a BG Homecare engineer to fix an appointment to have the pull switch in my bathtroom repaired (friend from Crewe who doesn't know her own strength wrecked it on her last visit!). Honestly - has anyone else tried to contact BG for ANYTHING recently? I could give up the will to live. Their website is not working and hasn't been for months. This is not good for my blood pressure!

We enjoyed having our friends round for dinner last night. My cooker tends to be a bit fierce so the apple frangipane tart was a bit dark but it was nice and I was asked for the recipe.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
You'll be needing another holiday to recover from BG-induced stress, @Ladybird4ย ย
I've braved the breezy conditions and planted a Cordyline that I 'rescued' from a SM rack a couple of weeks ago. The back border is filling up. Slowly ย
I am happy to report that my bathroom light cord pull is now fixed and working properly once more. Took Chris, the engineer, all of 10 minutes to sort it. He also checked my fuse board, gas meter and water stop cock. Apparently this is a standard thing that they do now though I don't really understand why though he muttered something about earth wires. My set up must have passed muster though.
Biglad, I have never tried growing cordylines but they are such lovely architectural plants when in their prime. Well done for the 'rescue'.

Hi all and hi @Ladybird4! Welcome home, good to see you. Glad to hear you've had a great holiday and enjoyed yourself. Hope you're feeling refreshed and raring to go at home now! OH and I have been busy in the front garden this afternoon. Our lawn slopes down and so the bit near the house, under the windows, is always full of weeds and moss being so damp. So we have taken up/out about 3-4 feet of grass, repositioned and relaid the black border edging, tamped the soil down, laid weed suppressing membrane and used what bit of gravel we had up. We will get the rest of gravel needed over the next few days. It's looking much better already, and although we were quite tired to start( can't seem to shake off this constant tiredness since our covid jabs) we are pleased with what we managed to do. @biglad, whilst visiting mum, we noticed a massive cordyline in her back garden which has suddenly appeared. She said it's always been there, but it hasn't, and we reckon my brother must have got rid of it out of his garden and planted it in mumโs. It looks lovely, it's quite tall and a striking feature now. Hope everyone is doing alright.

Builder's activity started at 7.30 this morning - eldest won't be happy
Very breezy here - a couple of pots have had a wander overnight. Still warm enough for shorts though
Glad you enjoyed your holiday LB.
