Hello all. You are so right T'Bird. 'Life' has got a lot to answer for. We just have to keep going with our heads down and hope there will be a light at the end of the tunnel.
Food Bank, hair'do', hot gossip regarding party preparation. Thats my day mapped out.
Whatever you all have planned, hacking stuff down in the garden can be a great stress reliever. A few quiet moments just pottering in the garden can add a feeling of wellbeing. We gardeners have known that for years but suddenly being out in 'Nature' has become the buzz conversation.

  • Morning everyone,
@debs64 glad you enjoyed the Viking Centre and York Minster. Your lunch and tea and scones at Betty's. Sounds a lovely day Debs. Enjoy today too.
@Ladybird4 sounds like a busy day ahead. Enjoy being pampered.
Slept well, but have been awake since just before 6. Need another cup of tea 🍵

    Morning all.

I'm glad you enjoyed York Debs. It was August bank holiday Sunday when we were there last year which might explain why it was so much busier. York Minster is a fascinating building and the glass is some of the best in the country - I love it.

As ever, when we lived there we didn't do many of the things on the tourist trail. We tended to avoid going into town because it was so busy and parking was a nightmare. However, a regular fortnightly trip was an evening visit to the library followed by hot chocolate at Betty's.

Think I'll take LB's advice and head outinto the garden today and starting chopping up some shrubs.

    Morning all.

    I'm at the airport.

Knee is a bit better this morning. I slept with in on a pillow last night, maybe it helped but when I turned over the pillow was in the way so I threw it out.

Glad you enjoyed York @debs64. I've been there several times.

My cats have been in awe of OHs stair lift until this morning .I saw Bruno on OHs knee having a ride to the landing ,he loved it .xxx
  • Top bird I hope you love your haircut.  Take care.  LB your cakes sound lovely.  It’s a rainy day today but it was needed.   I had beef casserole for lunch with sweet potato, very warming.  Lily hope oh is feeling better today and you slept.   Have a good day everyone.  Safe journeys to all travelling.

Good afternoon all. Well it has been a busy day today but very rewarding. The Food Bank was busy. We received three very large donations of food and toiletries which had to be weighed in, dated and put away. There was over 100Kg of various items. We had several clients and one lady was very interesting as she could neither speak nor read English. We had to take tins and packages with pictures of their contents out for her to look at. She took it all in good part and left happy.
Busy I hope that you are now safely back to your home in France and that the knee behaves itself.
T'Bird and Debs, I think York is a glorious city and the Rose Window in the Minster is exquisite.
Ruby, I did wonder how long it would be before your pussy cats had a ride on the stairlift. Wait 'til they work out how to start it themselves!
Rosie, when we got back to Bestie's house at lunch time, Bestie's daughter was making a beef stew which smelt delicious. She started on my hair once the stew was in the oven. I feel much less unkempt now

Evening all. Topbird, your words rang very true for me, stuff in "life" certainly does get in the way sometimes. One can get sick to death of it. Had a couple of days that we could well have done without.
We've had a rainy day today but popped to *esco for weekly shop, there were loads of empty-ish shelves and plenty of foods that we eat that weren't available. Short supplies, I wonder? The prices are really starting to climb now, too.
Going to pop into town tomorrow to see if I can pick up the missing food stuff elsewhere.
Hope everyone has a decent night.

Strange you should say that @Songbird-2,  this was the first delivery I’ve had for ages from Tesco that hasn’t had substitutes and all order fulfilled.
I think it must be regional.
I rarely buy anything that’s not on offer,  I pride myself on having nearly all my items with a yellow stripe underneath😀
