  • Morning all.  Happy Belated Birthday Wishes to Lily🐣🎶.  I hope you had a good day.  Cool but sunny.   Awake all through but I’ll pop to bed early this evening.   Baked some bread this morning, lovely warm with butter.    LB hope you’re feeling okay after your covid vaccination now.

Morning all. Sorry I've not been about - not feeling much up to chatting at the moment. Stuff going on.

    Happy belated birthday SGL.🥂🥳

Hope you enjoy York Debs - the Viking experience is good. We used to live about a mile from the city centre. I enjoyed it - but it's changed a lot since we left 25 years ago - it's become a bit of a 'party' destination. When I went last summer it was full of rowdy hen and stag groups getting drunk at 2pm. I've never seen bouncers on the doors of bars in the middle of the day before...

Rubee - things sound so difficult for you and your OH just now. Hope you and he can get the help you need.

LB - those are lovely little fuchsias. They are such delicate little flowers. What cakes are you making? A spare slice is always welcome...

Getting my hair cut and coloured this afternoon and then I must make a start cutting back shrubs etc in the garden. Having some fence work done in a couple of weeks and need to make room for the guys to work.

Not too much to do in the garden otherwise. As I thought there was hardly any rain while we were away despite the rest of the country enjoying good downpours. Ran the lawn mower over some weeds and straggly bits 4 weeks ago. The grass is a bit greener now (mainly from condensation) but it doesn't need cutting yet. The hawthorn & lonicera hedges haven't grown at all (usually I can't keep up with those) and all the beech hedges around the village (including ours) look absolutely dreadful. We have now had only about 3 or 4 decent rain showers since March.

  • Thank you @wfnp5bk4spsSNFYKh1 and @Topbird
@Ladybird4 haven't had a look yet, but will later.  Thank you x
Aww warm bread and butter yum yum @wfnp5bk4spsSNFYKh1 hope you have been sleeping better.
@Topbird sorry to hear you've been feeling not quite you. Hope you're ok.
We enjoyed our visits to York too, but must admit that was a few years ago too. Shame how things change.  But hopefully visits during the day won't be too different.
Enjoy being pampered at the hairdressers this afternoon.

Afternoon all. My turn for my hair being cut and coloured tomorrow after Bestie and I do our stint at the Food Bank.
Rosie I can almost smell your fresh bread! Arm was a little sore and stiff on the first day after I had had my vaccinations but the day after that it was back to normal. I'm just pleased I've been 'done'!
T'Bird, I'm sorry you are not feeling too happy at the moment and that the rain hardly materialised over your garden whilst you were away. Chin up Chuck! BTW, ages ago you were expressing a possibility of getting a Clematis rehderiana. Mine has gone bonkers this year and it plus my Passion Flower are trying to take over the world!

The cakes I have made are Red Velvet and Zesty Lemon - both courtesy of a famous Betty. Must remember to stick them in the car tomorrow! If there are any slices left over I'll put your name on it!

I am signing out for today as I keep getting a message from my antiviral software to say that Google has been compromised and until it gets sorted I am reluctant to do more browsing - just in case. Maybe it needs a Covid shot! See you all tomorrow.

You too @Yviestevie. You've had a really rough couple of years and I admire your tenacity. So many of us are confronting 'LIFE' at the moment - it's really good to have some supportive and non-challenging friendships on here.

Like many members - even if I don't feel like posting, it is always cheering and reassuring to read all your posts. Thank you for that.

@Topbird we found York charming and rather quieter than we expected probably the wrong time for stag dos but the right time for us, the Vikings were fun then after a light lunch we visited York Minster on a whim. What an awe inspiring and fascinating building! I am not a Christian but the history alone and the architecture is amazing, we had a knowledgeable guide and it was something we won’t forget. Tea and scones at the famous Betty’s finished off a perfect day.
Sorry to hear life is getting you down it’s difficult isn’t it? I for one avoid all the news and try to find joy in little things but it’s not easy I know, hope things improve soon.
