Hazel, I agree with you. I would have been a wreck. King Charles having to dash about to all the other countries in the UK so soon after his loss and then having to stay strong for everyone else has been commendable. A lot of this will have resonated with Prince William too.

    Morning all.

Cold and grey here. Heating is on.

Friends are dropping in for coffee soon.

OH had an appointment with his surgeon at the small private hospital this afternoon. He has been transferred to the bigger NHS hospital but no one had actually told him whether the appointment was still on. It's the same surgeon. He rang them last week, 6 times, left messages as no one answered. No one rang him. He rang this morning to be told that the appointment had been cancelled. We thought it would be but they hadn't even got the manners to tell him or return his calls.

I'm going back to France on Thursday, back here on 3rd October in time for his appointment at the NHS hospital on the 4th. I had hoped to have a good go at my garden in France but, after 3 months drought the forecast is rain all week.

Morning Busy. Fingers crossed all goes smoothly next month for your OH. Yes, Busy, its heaving down here today so nothing new there. I'm hoping when I go to France on 11th that I get a bit of sunshine

Morning all,ย  Just back from having my pneumonia jab. Tried to book flu and Covid but was told I could only book them if I was having them together.ย  Don't want to do that as I'm trying to space them all out to try and limit reactions due to having to look after the boys.ย  I've managed to book Flu jab at the local pharmacy in two weeks time and then I'll just book Covid at the GP's.ย  Gabriel is OK at the moment his Oxygen levels are holding up.ย  Firstborn's friend is OK too.ย  Apparently, according to the police there has been a spate of spiking drinks with heroin or coccaine in Worcester.ย  She didn't have either of these in her blood and they suspect it was a date rape drug.ย  At the moment she says she is never going out again.

@Yviestevie, your friend could do with one of these maybe?..... Anti-spike drink cover and bracelet for wrist...

Isn't it awful that we have to consider things like this. I'll pass it on.

  • Thank you @Busy-Lizzie
Sorry your OH appointment was cancelled today. Do hope everything goes ok for the next appointment. Hope he isn't in too much discomfort.
@Yviestevie our Dr told us not to have the Covid and Flu vaccines together.ย
Glad that Gabriel is feeling better today and that your firstborn friend is ok too.ย
I can remember when our boysย  started going out to clubs and pubs, they would only drink out of bottles and keep their thumb over the opening of the bottle. They said it just wasn't safe to drink from a glass. And they didn't put their drink down.ย

Sensible and sound advice there @star gaze lily but as Yvie says, it is awful that folks going out have to think about that sort of thing. Sign of the times unfortunately.
Ive noticed this morning, that the trampled Heuchera ย Apple Crisp, which I potted ย up , has started to show some new growth. Going to leave it now over winter and hopefully plant out again next year.
I have another pot of grape hyacinths coming through now and also a couple in the borders.

SGL, that is most curious about what your Doctor had to say. Did he/she give any reasons for recommending NOT having the two vaccinations together?
Hazel, great news about your crumpled Apple Crisp. Nature is good at recovering. I'm sure you will have another nice plant to put in your garden next year.
Yvie, that is good news about Gabriel. Hope he continues to recover.
