Hi everyone, Been catching up on the gardening today.ย  Lots of deadheading and cutting back done and the pond and birdbath have been topped up.ย  Back is aching so had to stop.ย ย
    It's cold and cloudy here.

Good afternoon all. Despite the weather we have had a wonderful BBQ today and I have finally met the newest teeny tiny great niece, 8 month old Lily. I teased my nephew she had been named after my cat! What a happy little person she is too.
When I went to get my Covid vaccination the 'greeter' said they were doing flu jabs as well so did I want them both. I was delighted and naturally said yes as this was what I had really hoped for. Tomorrow I will have to remember to cancel the flu jab I had booked for next Saturday.
Debs, have a wonderful holiday in Yorkshire next week. Hope your sis has had a nice weekend too.
Biglad, shepherding duties now. Makes a change from RAAF duties though there may be certain similarities
Busy, sorry to hear that your knee is bothering you. We were swapping aches and creaks story at the BBQ today. It is cheering to know that you are not on your own.
Yvie, it was very chilly where we were. I reckon the heating will be going on soon.

Good morning Ruby and all. So very sorry to read your post Ruby. You need to take extra care of yourself. Sleep deprivation can contribute to other health problems. Was it due to your OH having a restless night? I really feel for you both.

Today is going to be an historic day. I wonder when/if we will ever have another monarch either male or female who reigns over us for such a huge length of time. It just feels like the late queen was the nation's grandmother and I think many people will be feeling as if they have lost a member of their family. Whatever you have planned today, make it special.

  • Morning @Rubee @Ladybird4 and all to follow.ย
Sorry you didn't sleep again last night Ruby. Hope you are still asleep and resting. Hope your OH is ok and sleeping too. Take care of yourself too, sending a big hug.
Ladybird, I'll be watching the TV this morning. Will be so very sad. But a very special event too. Such an incredible lady, a hard act to follow. There won't be a Queen for a long long time. And as you say LB there won't be such a long reign for some time if ever again.ย
May she rest in peace, back together with Philip.ย

    Morning all,

It WAS particularly tranquil outside this morning until the sheep returned. About 15-20 strolling up the road this time. The neighbours (with the nice front garden) saw that the flower count was decreasingly rapidly and came outside to shoo them off. Their new puppy did a great job of chasing them up the street accompanied by the screams from their grand-daughter for him to come back. All very exciting for a sleepy, bank holiday morning.

Found the biggest Brian I've ever seen in our garden making himself comfortable on the blackberry bush and clocked the perpetrator of umpteen holes in the back lawn. It's all kicking off here ;)ย

We've been watching the funeral. Couldn't help crying again when it started, bagpipes are very poignant. I did some sewing repairs during the processions, but not during the service.

Now a break for a quick lunch while they are on their way to Windsor.

    Hello Biglad and Busy.
Biglad love your tales of the sheep. The puppy brought to mind that video clip that went viral of Fenton the dog who took off after the deer in Richmond park. I hope that your neighbours are aware of the shooting laws .
Busy, the bagpipes set me off. The choral music and the organ playing were hideous - made my ears bleed.
p.s. Biglad, look out for loads of oak tree saplings next year. Little squirrels are great at creating mini woodlands when they don't come back to collect their caches,
