We've been to the monthly village farmers market. Fewer stalls and fewer people than usual. No veg lady, no plant lady, maybe because of the drought. No sausage rolls or cheese straws for OH. No fish man. Maybe fewer customers because the road is closed at one end for sewage pipes for a new housing estate. It has been rather inconvenient and the works should be finished now but they look only half way through. I bought some honey, bread rolls and 3 brownies. We had coffee and I had a bacon roll for brekkies. OH had already had brekkies, but I was reading my book in bed.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Afternoon all, it was very fresh at 8 am this morning! Had to drive OH for an early morning appointment at our local hospital. Lots of dew/rain? on the car so had to wipe the windows down for the first time in ages. Sister and SIL went back home just before lunchtime so the house was beautifully quiet again. Did some washing but not a lot else, it was too hot after lunch for gardening.
Lovely photo of Pixel @Pat E and yes, that does sound a large bill.
It was very quiet yesterday afternoon in our local GC which was strange for a Friday, it's usually packed. I presume the Bank holiday weekend might be something to do with it. I had a chocolate Brownie as well @Busy-Lizzie!
Had a nice long chat with my son, they are back from holiday and had a good time in France in/near the Alps. They took the cable car up Mount Blanc but all suffered a bit with altitude sickness. Back to work/school with a vengeance next week it seems.
Are people picking apples yet? I've got a lot of James Grieves ones that look ready - really must try one and see. The squirrels have sat on the top of trellis and had a bite of all the ones they could reach. That's a goodly lot of potatoes there @Allotment Boy, makes my colander's worth look quite pitiful! How long will yours store for?
@Lizzie27 I insulated that end of the shed cupboard, so they should last well into next year. I will give some to family and we use quite a lot at Christmas and New year.
11C and bright sunshine … but there’s definitely a hint of autumn this morning here in Norfolk … and you have beautiful spring flowers @Pat E … thanks for sharing them with us … and what a pretty vase and bowl 😊
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
😂 you should see the state of this place … the contents of the kitchen cupboards are in the studio and we don’t have a floor in the cloakroom … we’re coming to see you … not whether you’ve dusted or weeded 🤗

Up at 5.30, bed linen in the machine. Sprinkler going in the garden.
So pleased to have no ban and no meter.
