Morning @Ante1@Ladybird4 and all to follow. Very overcast here this morning, we haven't had any rain. Would do the garden good to have a good downpour, preferably over night 😉 @Busy-Lizzie so sorry your OH'S plane was delayed which then caused travel problems. @Ante1 hope little cat improves soon and can come home to you and his furry friends. Glad you slept better, take it easy at the cottage today. @Ladybird4 yes, It's pilates day today for OH. He's feeling ok now, so will join in his Zoom class. Send some rain please LB. @Topbird goodness that sounds like a lot of work to do. I'm ok on ladders if I don't have to go too high, but couldn't go high enough to do guttering. Take care. Prices are definitely going up every week. And not by a couple of pence either. I bought a pack of little brioche Monday and they'd gone up by 30p in a week. 🤦♀️
Good Morning LB, Ante & SGL and all to follow, LB Sorry to hear the buses are still not running that must be causing major problems, Ante Pleased you’ve had a little rainfall, hope you have more arriving soon. Fingers crossed for little cat 🤞 SGL Sounds like a lovely day spent with your poppets yesterday, hope OH gets on well with the Pilates today, Topbird Sorry you only saw a few drops of rain yesterday, it sounds like you’re being very busy bees, Rubee I hope OH is recovering from the fall, hope you are ok too it must have been a terrible shock, Nel has a appointment with the V*t this morning for her yearly booster, she’s blissfully unaware so I don’t want her to suss what’s in store 🤫 Meeting with my colleagues for lunch & lots of chat 😊 Have a good day everyone.
Morning all. First job of the day is to source a new outside downlighter. When cleaning one of the four on the back of the house I discovered the casing on one had completely split open with wires exposed to the elements etc. Goodness only knows how long it's been like that - don't think those lights have been cleaned in over 2 years🤭 - but I can't rest knowing it's in that state. Fortunately, we rarely turn the lights on.
LB & SGL - we hire a cherry picker for this job because it's much, much safer than trying to work off ladders. We can also complete a very boring job much quicker. Without one you spend as much time repositioning and climbing up and down ladders as you do working and you can put all your kit in the basket so no up and down for a different brush etc . Plus I think OH quite enjoys playing with the picker. That means he moans less about doing the job....
Chive - I do hope you enjoy lunch. Nice to see your friends away from work.
Ante - fingers crossed the thunder results in some rain. Hope your furry friend is allowed home very soon - you must miss him.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
LB thank you for your advice I think I’ll try the B too. It’s good that in 2-3 weeks you can be within the guidelines. Sunshine this morning ordered a cotton petticoat in white rather pretty searched everywhere for one. Lily hope oh enjoys his zoom Pilates today. Ante hope your cat will be home soon. Chive hope Abel’s visit to vets is soon over, enjoy lunch with friends.
Good morning everyone .TBird you have been busy .Don’t overdo it in this heat .Ante I do hope that little cat will perk up and soon be back home . LB , love the pic . I remember all the trouble you had with the ladders . We began to wonder if they would ever arrive.Hazel you seem to be quite busy ,don’t overdo it .Chive OH is recovering . His back and leg muscles are quite sore. Considering what could have happened he has been very fortunate .
@Chivetalking hope all goes well at the Vets. Have a lovely lunch and chat with your friends. @Rubee hope OH is feeling a bit better today. Have a restful day take care. @wfnp5bk4spsSNFYKh1 hope you're well Rosie and sleeping better. How is Alfie. @Songbird-1 have a lovely time with 23. Hope you get everything when out shopping later. And OH is pleased with his hair cut. @Busy-Lizzie we have cooler weather too. Take care in the garden, hope the weeds come out easily, the earth will be so hard and dry. @Ladybird4 hope your buses have returned to normal service now. Have a lovely day everyone
Good afternoon all. I have had an interesting day today. Decided to get Lily's TV in action and as I was pegging out I heard my next door neighbour in the garden. I had a lovely natter with him and then mentioned the Leylandii that they inherited. I told him I had seen the branches contacting the cables (which I think are BT) above the garden during the high winds. He then offered to give it a trim but then said he needed a hedge cutter. Luckily I was able to give him mine to use - keeping my fingers crossed that the battery had held it's charge. To cut a long story short (and the Leylandii) I now have more light coming into my garden and my front room. He had to use my extra green bin which is now full to bursting with fragrant cuttings from the Leylandii. Pity green bin day was last week. Not to worry.
Chive, was Nel a brave little soldier today - or are you battle scarred?
T'Bird, it totally makes sense to hire a cherry picker. For some reason the music from Mission Impossible came into my head then. I could only get a cherry picker to one side of my house. I would not have been happy finding bare wires exposed to the elements either.
Ruby, I am glad that your OH didn't suffer anything worse than his bruising. Like you say, it doesn't bear thinking about what could have happened.
Rosie, I get the spread, the drinks and the yoghurt. They are rather delicious so I think I'll just carry on with those.
Hazel, I hope that you have enjoyed the visit of your son and 23 - hope that the paint was dry!
Ante - thunder! I hope that did signal the arrival of some rain for you.
SGL, the bus men are still on strike. Feel sorry for those who depend on them to get about. It only affects me when I am going to Canasta.
Busy, I hope you have had a productive day weeding. I expect you will have heard all about your OH's nightmare journey home.
