@Loxley Just wanted to say how much I love your photo of Stachys Hummelo. It is a masterclass in how to use leaf shape and texture, also shows that green alone can create impact. Thank you for sharing.
I agree, it's a very nice plant combination and a good photo. Just greens with darker accents, a variety of shades and textures, and the slate look perfect with the colour of the wall.
..oh wonderful colour, I suppose that's how it got its name...?
I like red ones.. 'Claudine'.. Scabious, one of the few things still romping away.. Hyssop officinalis.. makes a good alternative to Lavender, flowering a bit later..
Sisyrinchium 'Biscutella' - very subtle straw-coloured flowers, I think it looks nice tucked between grasses.
Stachys 'Hummelo'
Persicaria 'Pink Elephant'. I'm beginning to see the value in dwarf varieties of perennials. In a small garden, you can fit more in! This one only gets to around 45cm in height. According to Ballyrobert Nurseries, it's crossed with another species of Persicaria than amplexicaulis.
In the background is P. amplexicaulis 'Orangefield'
