    Who is Rick Wakeman?

Could your Covid test sets be duff ones @Yviestevie? Any possibility of getting a district nurse to do a PCR test?

After doing the watering and cooking dinner last night I was just too hot to stay outside on the terrace, which is in shade. OH loves eating outside in the evening but it was still over 30°. It's been 32° today, a little cooler but will go up again on Sunday and Monday.

A dratted mole has burrowed under my new fuchsias and caryopteris.

I managed to do some weeding this morning before the bed stopped being in shade.

Rick Wakeman is my cousins friend,  they all used to play together as teenagers,  (music that is). On one of Ricks LP’s he mentioned my cousin and thanked him for giving him his first break in a pop group.
We used to have such a good time in those days,  my aunts front room was open to anyone who wanted to play,  great parties almost every week.

Golly, @tui34, that is extremely hot, do hope it won't be as bad here next week, I shall melt!! Feel so sorry for all the folk in Bordeaux region where those fires are. I've just postponed my massage booked for next Tuesday as a precaution.

It's slightly cooler today with cloudy spells so I've managed to cut our long privet hedge on the lawn side but it's too wide to cut the top all way across so have ended up with sticky-up bits on the far side - most frustrating. Can't reach on the road side either as it's lower and on a slope. Might have to get the long handled pruner out and do each branch individually. Had this hedge and our front one done professionally earlier in the year but it cost over £300 which was rather an 'ouch' moment. Watered all the pots and newish plants last night but butts are beginning to run dry.

Do you mean juniper squamata @didyw, the blue one?

@Hostafan1, that's a remarkable but very tough anniversary. Sympathies.

@Yviestevie, is there a possibility you've got a dud batch of testing kits? Sounds like covid to me.

Stay safe and as cool as you can everyone.

    Evening.

Re the COVID tests - we find that people can test negative on the LFT but are positive on the PCR. It may be that your viral load is low (timing or immunity). I don’t think the public are entitled to a free PCR currently, but I would look after yourself and do an isolation as if you are positive @Yviestevie - hope you feel better soon.

Dreading the heat which is forecast for Mon and Tues as will be back in work and it will be HORRID. I will be taking a cool box with drinks and lollies. Will be horrendous for the patients in non-air con areas.

Homemade pizza ready so catch up later.
