I was eyeing up Soulman myself. All great colours.

    Lovely dahlias all.

This was sold to me as Cornel (as a tuber) and this is the first flower that’s come out.

It doesn’t look much like the online photos of Cornel, which is a red pompom — this looks more magenta-pink. Will wait to see what it looks like when fully open, and what the next flowers are like.

Probably too early, but happy to hear any alternate ID suggestions.

One of my dahlias is getting ravished by aphids, I was wiping them off, then spraying with soapy water jet, but they kept coming. I even resorted to a bug spray, I don't like too, but the whole inside foliage is brown and outter leaves are browny green and all looks terrible.

What to do? It looks terrible! Could I chop back and let it go again?

Interesting. I've never had a bug problem with dahlias....  I wouldn't cut right back, but you could cut some down by half - down to a leaf joint - and see what happens.  Keep well watered.

All the ones in the ground are fine, this ones in a pot, front of house by itself, underplanted with some millionbells.
    It's was absolutely covered!

Mine are being munched too. Aphids? Thrips? No idea.
This is Night Butterfly's sorry first bloom.

I have this dahlia in my garden. No idea what its name is. Bought from a local Garden Centre

    Arabian night

    Sunny boy

The labels for the rest have vanished. I have seen blackbirds pulling out the magnum sticks I use as markers.

Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth :)
