Morning Hazel. Sorry to hear you have had another restless night. Don't be overdoing it with the painting today.

    Morning all.Β

LB - Sorry to hear Jack's op was postponed. Hopefully he won't have to wait too long to get it done.

Debs - hope you continue to feel better. Your symptoms don't sound very nice.

Hoping to do some admin and then another couple of hours in the garden today. It's horribly dry out there - soil is like dust in places. I don't think we've had any rain for a couple of months and the very high temps while we were away didn't do the garden any favours at all. Expecting more of the same in the next few days πŸ₯΅

It's amazing that anything survives in my garden but the good news is that I'm very pleased with the sprinkler I bought in Germany. Very effective and very flexible watering patterns for more precise / targetted watering.

    Morning all.

I hope your ear stays better @debs64.Β Β

We are forecast a heat wave next week, in the mid 30s. Not looking forward to it.

I'm off to weed the clematis and foxglove bed along the fence. 5 of the hardy fuchsias I planted there have died. Maybe be it was too hot for them but I had that variety at my last house. It's fairly shady.

    Morning T'Bird and Busy.
T'Bird, Jack thinks that they are recalling him in a month - hoping that the infection will have cleared up - and he can then have the op. I'm actually impressed at how quickly he is having this second op when I have heard of others waiting much longer.
Busy, it is such a shame about your fuchsias. I wonder if it is worth cutting them right back down to the base and watering really well to see if they might pick up.

Oh my word! I got back from my friend's house just as the Nadal - Fritz match was starting at 15:00 and now it has just reached its brilliant conclusion. I am tennised out for today!

I am sorry to hear of your paint spill Hazel. I hope the Carpet Doctor can get it cleaned satisfactorily for you tomorrow. I am signing out for tonight so I'll see you all tomorrow. Bestie and I are at the Foodbank. It isn't one of our days but we are filling in for some of the other volunteers who are away on holiday. Enjoy your evenings all.

I've had a busy day. Weeded the clematis fence bed. All but one hardy fuchsia had died. Really dead, LB. I hadn't realised that in summer half the bed is in sun, I thought it was quite shady. The foxgloves are doing OK though.

Loaded the car and trailer with rubbish collected over the last year, paint pots, cardboard, an ancient mower etc and took it to the tip.

Went to the big plant nursery. A big clear up was going on, it had been devastated by the hail tornado. All the polytunnels had new polythene rooves. A lot of shrubs and trees had been damaged. I bought more fuchsias for the shady bit and Caryopteris for the sunny bits. The caryopteris had been storm damaged but the owner gave me a 50% discount. I'm sure they will be fine by next year, new shoots were forming already.

Came home, planted the caryopteris and fuchsias, also anemone Honorine Jobert.

Had spag bol for dinner on the terrace, glass of red wine.

@Songbird-1 sorry to hear you've had an accident with some paint. Do hope the Carpet Doctor can get all of it out and no lasting damage.Β  Hope you sleep well tonight Hazel.Β
@Ladybird4 that sounds a very long tennis match, hope you got the result you wanted 🎾🎾
@Busy-Lizzie that's so sad to hear you've lost so many fushias. But great you managed to find some more at a good price. That was very kind of the man to give you such a discount. Hope they all grow well.

Will say goodnight to you all,  hope we all get a good nights sleep. Sweet dreams everyone 😴
