@Chivetalking elderflower cordial is ridiculously easy, 1kg sugar to one litre of water , 50g of citric acid , 2 lemons and about 20 elderflower heads, make the sugar syrup by boiling sugar and water then let it cool to tepid. Shake elderflower heads, slice lemons put into a large plastic container sprinkle over acid then pour on sugar syrup, leave for 48 hours then strain through Muslin  into bottles. Don’t wash the heads any little creatures will be strained out.
Delicious and easy lasts about 4-6 months  in the fridge. Pick flowers just opened early in the morning if possible.
Maisie adores it she says she is like a butterfly drinking flower water. The good stuff is about £4 in the shops so it’s a saving too, that recipe will easily fill 2 x70cl bottles
    good luck!
@Ladybird4 will remember I make rhubarb cordial too also very easy and delicious.
One year we did liqueur that was popular.
If I ever retire I would love to make wine and maybe even elderflower champagne 🍾

Good morning Chive, SGL, Hazel. Sorry that SGL and Hazel had a rubbish sleep. Mine was a little better last night but far from perfect and restful.
Debs, I remember you making the rhubarb cordial because you kindly gave me the recipe and I made some for myself - it was delicious. I remember my Grandma and her sisters making elderflower champagne however I was too young then to be able to sample it. I will go for a hunt for elderflowers now! Like Chive I just LOVE Maisie's description. I was trying to find a butterfly that she might be - Painted Lady just sounded a bit risqué!
Yes Hazel and Chive, lets have a mooch around I**a with Debs!

    Morning all.

I love elderflower cordial, can't buy it in France. Almost impossible to buy citric acid either.

OH's niece and her friend are coming to lunch tomorrow. They both have complicated diets so no meat, no dairy, no gluten, no sugar, no potatoes. We are shopping for it today, I will have to look at the diet list again. I like the niece though, bubbly sort of person. They are on holiday in North Norfolk.

@Songbird-1 yes I think I'll be just doing the few essentials today and not much else.
@Rubee do hope you and OH are ok, take care.
    @Ladybird4 can't I come too 🥲
@Busy-Lizzie oh heck, good luck with finding something for the meal today. Glad it's not me 🤣  think it would be a bowl of salad 😉🤭

Uh oh Ruby - morning to you and Busy by the way - that does not sound too good at all. Whatever it is, you and your OH take care and take it easy today. I am taking it easy too - rain stopped play. Might get the knitting out.
Busy, that sounds quite complicated and such a challenge for you. I have every confidence you will manage though!

    Morning all,

Been a bit Winkleman here, but I'm hoping to sneak an hour or two outside this afternoon.

I went to 'Sco for the first time in ages yesterday. Was supposed to be a quick 10-minute dash but I got sidetracked :D

They must just want rid of the stock quickly because all the 88p plants looked healthy to me.
