I never met my grandfather. He died long before I was born....... found religion, left prison and became a missionary, signed up to WW1 as a “padre” in Palestine, won the Military Cross for saving another person’s life
Missus S's dad was out there with the Royal Horse Artillery - no Crosses for him - only a Medal and that came from the Italians who were on our side at the time as were the Russians so echo your grandpa's ideals on equality.
I never met him, as I say, but he must have passed his genes onto me.
Yep, somewhere between 12.5 & 25% as your full genome has about 3.1 billion base pairs there's quite a lot of him in you. What all those B.P's do is still a vast open question at present and tremendously interesting; however; as they only ever "code" for a protein - which again we have very little idea what each do - as much as it's a nice thought that we carry our forebear's genes - it remains to be discovered how and if they actually influence us.
The poll was about how people thought about the actual Jubilee and the celebrations, not the monarchy, not the same thing at all.
I reckon they're close enough. I've heard lots of folk say they love the Queen, but not so Charlie boy. I can't see many saying they love the celebrations , but not the Queen, nor those who love the Queen being anti celebrations. IMHO like / dislike of both go fairly hand in hand.
I suspect many of the borderline monarchists were tipped over the edge when the BBC cancelled the scheduled showing of Gardener's World and forced every detail of Prince Philip's death down the nation's throat.
Clay soil - Cheshire/Derbyshire border. I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful
I'm not against the Queen or even against the monarchy but I do think the Royal Family have sufficient for their needs without assistance from the taxpayer.
