Yes, I love the Queen, she has done a terrific job, a job I would hate. She never seems to complain just does her duty with a smile. I agree with what @AnniD said.
I am going to a village tea party on Saturday and the church picnic lunch after the Sunday service. Good chance for a get together.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I've a lot of respect for the Queen (unlike most of the rest of the royal family) but I won't be celebrating or partying because 1. I'm not really much of a party person, and 2. I go on holiday on Friday, so I'll be packing then driving then settling in to our cottage.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
I feel for folk like @WonkyWomble who are self employed and are basically forced to lose income as , generally speaking, folk don't want them there on holidays. I was self employed for 25 years, nobody pays us for bank holidays
I don't have particularly strong feelings on the subject. I like most of the Royal family, think they do good work and agree that there are massive downsides to what they've been born into.
On the plus side, I'll be working a normal week but getting paid double for Thursday and Friday
Grateful that the Queen has lasted so long, and delayed the day when we end up with Charles. Nice change to have a Bank Holiday on a Thursday and Friday instead of the usual Monday. We won’t be celebrating, or watching any tv specials. That must be the worst bit of being a royal, having to sit through all the dreadful pageants and royal command performances. Otherwise, I think I’d find a life of visiting hospitals and factories etc and shaking hands with people from every walk of life not far off my dream job! Certainly less stressful than a life in the NHS. I have actually shaken hands with the queen, I don’t think she actually said anything to me, unlike Prince Philip, who was very chatty and funny.

Surely the worst thing is having the hear that bleedin' awful dirge that is " God save the Queen " endlessly?

Probably thinking ‘They’re playing Our song’!
I've never sung it, nor will I ever sing it. Verse 6 "Lord grant that Marshal Wade, May by thy mighty aid, Victory bring. May he sedition hush, And like a torrent rush, Rebellious Scots to crush, God Save the King."
bah, can't be bothered getting annoyed about it, so I don't think about it too much. I think they're all psychologically damaged by the whole ridiculous set up. And we're all being manipulated into buying a load of stuff - party food, plastic tat, alcohol - and told to enjoy ourselves to shore up the economy and the SMs' profits.
I don't get paid for bank holidays either, but if the weather's decent, I can get some gardening done.
No street parties here - we did consider all getting together in our little hamlet and having a BBQ, but no one could summon the enthusiasm. The village are having a 'do' I think, but I'll not be going - far too many people for my taste. I remember the silver jubilee and I remember the golden one - that was a good laugh when we had a big hog roast in the village street one day (different village, much smaller), a BBQ with friends the next (OH's birthday always coincides with these things) and then a really good live band on in the pub on the Sunday night. I don't recall anyone even mentioning the Queen.

Racist or what?
