Last of the figs from this year's crop.

And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth :)

    They look delish!
The halved fig in a bowl has the look of an unhappy Darth Vader to me after a heavy night out 😁

  • @Eustace Well envy is something we shouldn't have BUT......for 2 years now we haven't had a fig harvest. The tree is always doing well in early spring and then we have frosts and it is set back. Then dry summers don't help even though figs cope well with that.
Enjoy eating them as they look great.

@Pete.8 @bertrand-mabel Thanks. Last year, early spring frosts played havoc with the developing figs. This year, probably because of the relatively warm weather, they have done well.

Last picking of chillies this year. I have trimmed 3 of the chilli plants and put them in the porch; will see how many survive until next season.
Last year, out of 3, 2 survived.

  • Raspberries in December!
  • We harvested chinese artichokes yesterday. A lot of work for not too much but have cooked them with onions and chillies (from the garden) to be part of christmas meal.
  • @Eustace maybe this should be Harvest 2023! Going up the path to pick some sprouts I suddenly remembered I had sown some carrots last year outside (they never do well so usually sow in the polytunnel). Saw some top growth so thought good time to pull up and see the "little finger" size carrots....if any. But did better than I thought.
