I have started picking the strawberries when they show a faint reddish colour or even when they just turn light green. They ripen within 2 days on my window sill.

And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth :)

@Eustace following your strawberry link we did the same....and had the same with the very slight red on the strawberries we collected them and today they are ripening.
So following on from this I have picked some cherries in the same mode before the birds get them all and we wait and see if they will ripen in the same way.

At least you get a crop to eat I guess , but I  find that fruit tastes so much better if it ripens properly on the plant.

@Eustace decided to follow what you did with the strawberry...and they did start to turn and ...mush.
Tried cherries that were pink...no good either.
You are doing so much better than us.Well done.

@bertrand-mabel sorry to hear that. My strawberries ripened on the window sill were good, juicy as usual. Cherries started shrinking, so not sure I'll do that again. Anyway no more cherries as the blackbirds were alighting on the tree en masse.
These were picked yesterday and are ready for tomorrow's smoothie.

@Eustace did manage to harvest some red currants before the blackbirds took the lot. Thankfully they don't appear to go after the blackcurrants which are starting to turn.
Look a bit orange in the photo but they are red!

Do you normally get loganberries this early @Eustace
