Well Sid ran the  traps on Markham vale North Notts /Derbyshire border  last night and got  lots.  A trap run  at the weekend near Matlock on a farm which is being rewilded got lots. I ran mine  last night (south Derbyshire/Notts border) from 6 to 12 and got none at all.

Yeah... it's been a slow start for sure, but the weather has been far from ideal which is to be expected.

I've seen so many great records so far this year and I think that gives a false impression depending on where you live and what can be expected in your area at this time of year.

Unfortunately conditions are still too up and down at the moment in my part of the world to bother putting the trap out, temps were better last night, but it turned out to be too wet, so will continue to wait until the conditions improve.

Here's a Common Quaker from the last season.

I sincerely hope we’re going to see more of your beautiful moth photos in Gardeners Corner everyone 🙏

I share most of my moth photos with the Derbyshire moth group on facebook.  Given my very close proximity to Notts , I also follow the Notts moth group on facebook and also the not too far away Leics group.

    My sign out.
Privet hawkmoth. Uk's largest hawkmoth. I caught this beauty in a borrowed moth trap in  June 2022.  I was thrilled at the time, but I was not reporting finds  or in any moth group. A year later  my mothing friend down the road caught one, and all hell broke loose. First one in Derbyshire in modern record keeping time. Well actually....

Fantastic @fidgetbones and an excellent image to sign out with, I'd love any species of Hawkmoth this year, very special creatures indeed.

I wish you many a full trap, filled with Mervs, Clifden Nonpareil, Deaths-heads and every other amazing moth out there.

Also...thanks once again for opening my eyes to the wonderful world of Moths.
