Fantastic @fidgetbones agreed re the Blue Underwing... though the Mervs are a superb substitute.

I think Black Rustic is my favourite moth, the more you look at it the more you see with all those subtle patterns in black and brown.

That Sallow flavecens is a real looker.

@wild edges  I do wonder how many moths I lose to the cat. He likes to play whack a moth as they come in. He's a hunter, if it moves he chases it.

Too cold last night so didn't bother setting up, but here are a couple from last week.

    Silver Y and Black Rustic.

People round here who set up Friday night got about 4 apiece, although November moth seems to be coming out now.  I spent yesterday picking the last of the apples off the gala tree, and then doing cuttings of osteospermum and salvia. We had a frost on the garage roof last night.

I'm already starting to get itchy fingers waiting to start trapping this year. I've seen people's reports coming in and some videos of early trapping on Youtube, like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCXvf4Bu3OI
Conditions haven't been favourable here yet though and the earliest I've tried in previous years has been mid-March :|  Last year it was April before I finally got a chance to do it. Has anyone tried yet?
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Mine is out tonight, a bit windy but 12°c might lure something to the shiny lights.

It was looking good earlier but it turned wet and wild before dark.

At least it's dry here but, definitely blowing gale now and the gusts are pretty constant too, but you've got to be in it to win it  :*
