Well, the totals for last night were not the best, but not surprising considering just how strong the wind was.

I had a total of 0/0, nothing, not one jot.

    But...if you don't try, you don't get  :)

I've only recorded one from this list https://butterfly-conservation.org/news-and-blog/moths-of-the-month-january-and-february so I'm looking for any opportunity to try for the rest. Most of them hang about into early spring though.

Good conditions this evening, 8c, cloudy and quite still. My wife came home after dark saying she'd seen moths flying around in the car headlights not far away. No luck with the trap though :(  If nothing else it got a bit rained on so I was able to give it a good clean off to get rid of the winter's dust. Lots of nocturnal insects about though so things are starting to get more active.

    A couple from last year...a Blair's Shoulder-knot and a Red-green Carpet.

I think I might have a go tonight. No rain forecast at least.

I tried again last night and only managed to attract flies. Two nights of decent weather and no luck so it's a good sign that I need to wait a few weeks. I did find this moth inside the house though. I think it's one of the pine carpets and shouldn't be on the wing until May. My only guess is that it had a pupa in the soil of our Christmas tree and woke up early because the house was warm. Sadly it has deformed wings and won't survive outside.

Although it's going to be fine tonight, with moderately light winds, it's still pretty cold with temperatures of about 3°c overnight, so I'm going to give it a miss too.

Looking forward to the warmer weather and some more Gold Spots.

Just one moth in the trap last night...a pretty worn Hebrew Character and to be honest I was expecting more, so a little disappointed.
