Well I got more than I thought last night. I have been getting black rustics for a few weeks now, but I think there is an Autumn green carpet as well as a tawny form common marbled carpet, and a New for Year Merveille du Jour. I had one last year, our Oak trees turned up trumps again. Only three Box tree moths, currently getting their swimming costumes on before they go for a swim.
Not an autumnal green carpet, just a red-green carpet when I get some light on it. However, 14 of 6 last night. Star of the show was Merveille du jour, entirely dependant on Oak trees.
Last night was a good night for moths in the garden, not many in the trap but what was there were quality and this was one I really wanted to find, the Black Rustic...this could well be my favourite moth.
I ran the trap on Monday night and had a decent spread of about 10 moths of 8 species. I missed a couple due to some very large and active spiders hunting around the trap and scaring some off. The trap also caught a vine weevil and an interesting snail. No new species but I'd forgotten to log the Feathered Thorn from last year so it does add to the list.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
I've been catching quite a few black rustics in the last month or so, but not had a green brindled crescent at all. I have moth envy for blue underwings, everyone around me seems to be catching them, but me not at all. However I do have two Large Oak trees in the garden, and they give me Merveille du jour, 5 over the last week, so I'm happy with that. Merveille du jour.Pink barred sallowBlack Rustic

Can any of you moth experts kindly give this poster an identity for their caterpillar please?
I love following this thread. We see many more Moths than Butterflies here.
A Merv is a dream moth, lucky you 👋
@Rubytoo it could be the caterpillar of Burnished Brass, a beautiful moth.
I did try and find it before asking.
