Sorry I've been AWOL, so busy, but have managed to read a few posts a day, just no opportunity to respond. As @Hostafan1 says, hugs to all who need them.
The weather has been lovely here, so terrace is being fully utilized. Have a coach party coming from a catering college tomorrow for an English lunch and then a 2 hour demonstration on how to make scones, cupcakes and shortbread. We'll be doing it in the lower garden, so hopefully won't interfere with 'proper' customers too much. All needs a lot of preparation and planning.
Then, after that my ex-husband arrives for a long weekend. We're all really looking forward to seeing him, Charlie was only little last time we met.
Today is a big day for Charlie too, he has his entrance exam and interview at the Lycée he wants to go to. A full day, starting at 10:15 with an oran exam, followed by a written exam and then the 1:1 interview. He's feeling fairly confident and says he'll do his best, but what will be will be. He's so sensible, bless him.
Anyway, must get on, good day to all and o hope you get some rain where needed.

Sunny days here too @D0rdogne_Damsel - although it's not exactly summer, I like the current temperatures. The wind has come up suddenly - maybe it's just changing direction.
Charlie will be fine today - a little stress is good before an exam. Is his future chosen lycée far from where you live? The examiners can be tough and quite rude. Let us know how he gets on.
Swallows abound, swooping and diving and looking for old and new nesting spots.
Some painting today - a cast iron bench and table to freshen up. So better make tracks.
Today the first day of the Ice Saints: Gare s'il gèle, à la Sainte-Estelle.
Good luck to Charlie @D0rdogne_Damsel. I hope it goes well for him.
I had a good time with our friends yesterday although the meal was disappointing. The sea bass tasted stale, I had 3 very small fillets, so I'm pretty sure they were frozen. The stale fish taste was in the risotto too.
It looks a bit damp this morning.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
That's such a shame @Busy-Lizzie ... there's no excuse for poor fish in this region ... we're so close to the coast. Did you leave any feedback?
I'm pleased with myself, I've just worked out a way of constructing a simple framework with cane and jute netting to support our squashes, so they take up less room in the veg patch ... and I've found a source of jute netting that should be here by the time it's safe to plant the squashes out. 🤞

Morning all. Just reading back. That is so sad @chicky. And sad for you too @Pat E. Over the past couple of days two people I have met, both a bit younger than me, have died. One was our local MP when we last had a Labour govt. and the other was Dennis Waterman who released a record while I was working at the record company that released it. (It didn't do very well!). And he used to drink in a pub local to me at the time. You always think that only people older than you should die, don't you?
Do you need specs for seeing and for reading @Hostafan1? I tend not to take my reading specs out with me, which makes reading labels of things when shopping almost impossible now.
Your jute netting arrangement sounds intriguing @Dovefromabove. I am promising myself masses of time in the garden once the garden street market is over, after Sunday. Bit of running around to do for that today - picking up the cables for the power for the music under the Butter Cross, the parking signs to direct people to the golf club car park, getting the 'no parking' signs for the street printed and laminated ready to go up on the lamposts the night before... Oh and we have a Jubilee planning meeting this afternoon.
Good morning all. @didyw, I've been wearing reading glasses for years , but now need distance as well. I figure just wearing one pair all day is probably easier than carting 2 pairs everywhere and having to swap them about. Hugs to @D0rdogne_Damsel and Charlie.

Having recently gone for the other option ... I concur 🙄
