Luckily a tray of 20 salvia rhea plugs have just arrived on the doorstep, so potting them up is a job I can do before we set off to Florence this afternoon. Not a job I would have wanted to delegate to the Chicklets 🌱🌱
Hello all, hope everyone doing well. Been away for a few days , so haven't caught up with chat history - best wishes to those that need them. Amazed how much change 3 days has made - 2 of my potted on zinnias seem to have damped off ( or succumbed to some other wilt), on the upside the nigella seeds I had given up on as duff seeds have started sprouting and other stuff still seems alive! Perhaps i need to cultivate patience more than i cultivate plants.
My neighbour brought horse poo round. Their horse which was injured last week died on Thursday. I was showing him how much things have changed in the polytunnel. Of the hundreds of plants in there he fell for the aeoniums. " How much would you want to sell me one of these?" " here, take these two. A gift " He burst into tears, bless'im.
Afternoon all, It's a beautiful day here. Glad your new neighbour is nice @punkdoc Enjoy Florence @chicky it's one of the places I would love to visit. Have a good day with Wonky @Dovefromabove
Popped to Ashwoods this morning with Bestie and enjoyed a cranberry scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Didn't buy any plants but did get some compost. Came home and removed a large clump of buttercup from the back of the border. Gathered up a load of dead bulb leaves and moved a few pots around. Soon be time to plant up the pots with annuals. Enjoy your day folks whatever you are up to.
@Hostafan1 that's really lovely ... was it down in your wood? .... I've not heard a cuckoo since the day Pa fell and broke his hip ... 11 April 2010.
Anyway, I'm back after a lovely time sitting by the wildlife pool full of tadpoles in DD's pretty garden ... it's about 75 mins drive from here down the A140 Herbi ... we've swapped plants ... I've come back with potted asparagus crowns, plus a handful of sprue from her asparagus, plus some bearded iris and Verbena bonariensis and some other bits and bobs for the flower garden. She's got enough tomato, cucumber and squash plants to supply half of Ipswich ...
When I got home I found the Under Gardener had (unasked) cut the grass in the back garden, and he helped me plant the irises and V. bons .... the asparagus will be planted tomorrow. He is currently absorbed in Beth Chatto's 'Drought Resistant Planting' and wants an outing ... he's never been there but he thinks it's a garden that would really appeal to him.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Good afternoon, just caught up. Heavy day at Allotments yesterday so just a bit of light pruning at home today. A good tydy up of the early viburnum tinus. We lifted the crown a little to allow more light into the under story, and sorted out the top. Then had a good sit watching the antics of the Robins and blue tits. We think both new boxes are occupied by blue tits, but they need to start paying their way. There's a lot of black fly on the new growth of the other viburnum (V. Opulus snowball). Perhaps we're feeding them too well & they have got lazy! 😄
I hope you enjoy Florence as much as we did @chicky.
Brother has gone, leaving me 2 big bars of almond chocolate We went for a walk in the sunshine, but I don't think he noticed much - never stopped talking!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
