Geranium 'Hilary Rendell'.. Stipa gigantea.. Anthemis 'Tinpenny Sparkle'.. Achnatherum calamagrostis.. just coming into flower.. a cold season grass, like Stipa, they flower earlier than warm season grasses like Miscanthus.. ..I get lots of seedling Lavenders which I sometimes pot up.. this was one.. I think it's quite nice.. Geranium 'Eureka' / Aquilegia 'Yellow Queen'.. Veronicastrum 'Temptation'.. just starting..
..this huge mound of Geranium leaves, 4' x 4', sold to me as 'Johnson's Blue' but that's not right as it's a much shorter plant, and I used to have it. I've been calling it Geranium pratense but even that I'm not sure.. it wasn't meant to be like this.. lol..
Lovely plants @Marlorena and everyone, this is such a treasure trove of ideas and images of perennials for anyone researching their next plant(s) — better than the flower closeups on commercial sites.
Declaring peak nepeta ‘Purrsian Blue’
Lavender ‘Hidcote’ getting started outside — 56 plants which I’m glad for for the bees, but not so much when it’s pruning time
@Athelas ..thanks so much... wonderful hedge colour.. it's truly pristine and very much suits the situation there I think.. do you get seedlings from your Hidcote? I used to get hundreds, I potted up a few and grew on..
Sedum spurium atropurpureum.. Parahebe 'Avalanche'.. grows in any odd corner.. Geranium 'Russell Prichard', I can never get enough of, I just think it's one of the best plants out there.. Thalictrum, soon be flowering.. ..in this photo, Penstemon, Lychnis, Scabious, Gaura etc.. I can't be without a pot of red Pelargoniums.. Geranium cambridge along a dry river bed..
Salvia 'Royal Bumble' quite a striking colour. ..another seedling lavender, this time from 'Hidcote'.. not as dark as the original.. Berberis 'Admiration'.. Berberis 'Bagatelle'.. .. a dry border, Lavender very much in evidence this time of year.. masses of rubble under there..
..seeded Foxgloves and Allium seedheads.. Geranium 'Patricia'.. Geranium 'Orion'. / Alonsoa 'Rebel'.. ..the very similar Geranium 'Eureka'.. with blue Clematis and orange rose.. Nemesia 'Wisley Vanilla'.. indispensable for scent.. ..not everyone likes roses, or yellow ones, this small evergreen shrub is a good alternative.. Hypericum moserianum... not invasive..
Veronicastrum 'Temptation'.. Parahebe 'Avalanche'.. Penstemon 'Apple Blossom'.. blue Geranium with very large leaves.. it wilts if not watered.. Anthemis 'E.C. Buxton', just showing colour.. Salvia 'Royal Bumble' which I had to move in full flower 2 days ago.. Achnatherum.. Anthemis 'Tinpenny Sparkle' / Geranium 'Russell Prichard'..
Watering plants in summer gets on my 'noives'.. so I try to mange without.. so lots of plants like these..
Ceratostigma willmottianum.. this also grows well in moist shade I've found. ..an indispensable blue for sun.. Escholzia californica.. Geranium 'Orion' / Alonsoa 'Rebel'.. blue and white Scabious, blue Penstemon, Lychnis and the dark foliage of Gaura 'Pink Dwarf'.. Lavender 'Ashdown Forest'.. Geranium sanguineum 'Apple Blossom'.. long season into autumn.. seedling Hypericums are useful for wildish corners.. ..this is a seedling Evening Primrose.. I used to have a yellow variety..
Lots of my plants have been struggling in the heat wave we've been having, but this hardy hibiscus 'Luna White' doesn't mind it a bit! Not sure who's been nibbling on the bloom in the background. Flowers are about 7" wide.
