Hello all ... hope all are well ... we've had a change of plans ... less than 24 hours after we arrived at MIL's she woke up on her birthday, felt a bit grim, and tested Positive. She'd tested the previous day and was clear ... but ...
We tested negative and she sent us home ... got back yesterday teatime. She said she'll be better on her own without us fussing. One of OH's big sisters lives just a couple of villages away so she'll pop around and look through the windows at her and drop stuff off, and her friends in the village have said they'll do the same.
We'd not been huggy with her, and had not gathered around the same table for supper, and used our own en suite etc, so maybe we'll escape.
It turns out that the village has had several people going down with it in the last few days ... thankfully no one's been very ill, even her elderly neighbours who are in poor general health ... so fingers crossed she'll be ok.
At least she has birthday cake to eat and balloons to cheer her up ...

Hopefully, the apparent trend of weaker and weaker strains passing through the population will continue, d-fab.
My eldest is back at work after isolating and just found it to be a PITA being stuck at home with me I've managed to avoid catching it despite two separate periods of living with a victim. No rhyme or reason to how/who/why/when really.
OH has gone out on his m/bike so I'm home alone to play. A few more unmentionables this morning and then I'll go out and finish the shredding. Might throw some dill and flax seeds around - they look pretty popping up at random through the borders. Also need to sow some lettuce and coriander although I'm not sure they'll survive if we're not here to water them for 2 weeks. Need some rain now to give everything a good soaking.
Dove - sorry to hear about MIL - fingers crossed you're both ok.
Yvie - sounds like your daughter had a horrid day yesterday. Hope that's the worst of it behind her now.
LB - enjoy your visit today.

Good Morning Dove & Topbird, Oh dear Dove what a shock to you all, sorry to hear poor MIL has tested positive. It sounds like she has a good support network of people around her and I hope you & OH have managed to avoid contracting it 🤞 Topbird Sounds like a good plan of action today, nice to potter around and do as you please. Hope OH has a good ride out on his motorcycle, Since a recent s/ware update on my phone I’ve noticed a few new emoji’s:

Big lad I’m glad your eldest is okay now. Dove hope mil will soon be better and hope you’ll both be well. LB I wonder what flew into your basket at the gc. Hope you’ve enjoyed your day. Chive I’ve now an automatic bin in the kitchen, needed 4 large batteries to lift the lid, but working well, only one that fitted a narrow space but frees your hands. Hope all went well at school. Lily I’ve had a restful day and went back to bed. I’ve been pottering teatimeish. Top bird it’s been lovely weather. Walked dad over to docs this afternoon as chemist had stopped one of his medications. GP to sort and will issue scrip. @Songbird-1 just wanted to say hi and hope you’ve enjoyed the sunshine. Busy you and oh will be looking forward to the theatre.
I was getting in the washing from the line on the back patio and a muntjac appeared. It rushed around the garden and tried to jump the fence, too high, then I chased it out of the side gate - which we'd forgotten to shut. I now only have 1 peony flowered tulip left I followed it through the front garden where Mummy Duck and about 6 babies were sunning themselves on the lawn

Good afternoon everyone. Had a super trip to the GC with sis and one of our friends. We started off with a drink of tea or coffee and I was very good in not indulging in anything to eat. Don't worry, I'm not poorly or anything like that, just trying to reduce my intake. Then we had a good mooch. Sis is after a big summer house so we walked into several of those. I love the smell of new timber. Then we looked at all the plants and by some strange twist of fate, a Genista 'Lydia' jumped at me. By the time I had driven back home up the M6 it had filled my car with a most delicious perfume.
Busy, you need a milkman. Whilst attempting to do little bits to try and save the planet I got myself one and now I get lovely glass bottles on my doorstep 3 times a week. I can also get potatoes, yoghurts, cream and eggs from him. I have a MOO account (Milk Order Online). Mentioned this some time back when Kitty was one of our regulars. You must have had a bit of a start when you saw the deer - no more than it did I bet when it saw you. Enjoy your night out.
Biglad, be careful what you kiss! Aucubas can be poisonous. I bet you will have some choice words to say at the DIY store after the mess up on Sunday.
Dove, sorry to hear that your visit was cut short but there will be other times I'm sure.

p.s. sorry Chive, I meant to say that I do not know about your new emoji. I only know that the latest GIF RES allows people to resize/flip or add colours etc. to Gifs.
