@Fire, good luck for the "Tea in the garden". Your garden is beautiful and it doesnt need to be perfectly manicured to be enjoyed. As for the weather to be honest I like a bit cloudy and cool summer day when I wear a light jumper and can be out and about all day instead of a bright sunny day where after enjoying it for few mins, I feel like coming indoors.Â
I was hoping to see some photos of new DA roses from Chelsea flower show but didnt see any. Nevermind I have buds and we will post photos here once they bloom. I have a feeling they will be ordinary pink and apricot roses.
@Marlorena i am fascinated with Cornelia's subtle hues, gorgeous picture! i planted it last autumn and am looking forward to the first buds opening.
in the meantime Ghislaine is doing well, planted last spring. but the blossoms are yellow/orange only in the early morning, then they quickly become completely white, i wish i could enjoy the variation play longer
Still mightily impressed with my Pheno Geno rose. Completely untouched by aphids and the dreaded sawfly (both huge in number this year), no sign of any disease whatsoever, and is showing good strong healthy spotless growth. I know it's early days, but I'm beginning to believe the spiel which surrounds these plants.Â
@newbie77 what a lovely bunch of pinks, and @Marlorena’s  Mme. Lauriol de Barny is barnstorming as ever. There is something so sumptious and overflowing about a good once-flowering rose. If my soil and location of my vegetable plot was better, I would surround it with them, but must admit I prefer a repeat flowerer in the main garden.Â
@murasaki my new GdeF (a standard) is the same, the colour is very fleeting. In my warm climate it was not unexpected as most roses are paler, but it would be nice to enjoy the warmer tones for longer. I wonder does colour-fastness improve with age?
Well my roses were battered by 24 hours of heavy rain. I haven’t had time to deadhead or tidy them up yet as we were frantically cleaning the house and preparing bedrooms for family to descend in an hour or so. Phew, all done now! Shame, my SIL loves roses and I was hoping to have a good display for her. Munstead Wood currently looks like this:
Francis Dubreuil is sheltered under the eaves and the first bloom is opening despite the weather. Gorgeous fragrance, much better than last year:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Lady hillingdon peeping out Macmillan nurse. Being rehomed as dosent really go but pretty. Glenfidditch Sweet syrie Colonel mustard CpM looking lovely Sheilas perfume with stunning scent Natalija /E.W Bonkers - usually clusters Brother Cadfael, munstead wood, purple tiger, albertine, lady of shalott, eden / pierre de ronsard, for your eyes only Middle bed and back bed bursting out
@Nollie here in the south of Romania we have very hot, dry summers as well🌞
i find that Buff Beauty, though it has very similar colours to GdF, keeps the stronger hues much longer, even if it has full sun all the time (Ghislaine has shade in the afternoon). But i love them both very much!Â
@JessicaS - I love the daintiness. It may be best to make a collage or break up the photo stream so people with dodgy internet connection can better open the post.
Such fullsome and beautiful flushes of roses everywhere. I swear mine are conspiring to hold back until I close the door behind me at the weekend, when they will no doubt burst into bloom...
