@WhereAreMySecateurs I have very clumsy fingers too, now what’s this rosey shaped package that’s just turned up? 🤔 Perhaps it’s the FB person that deserves the soubriquet sucker, since leaf count varies even on the same rose and your PB is fabulous.Â
I had my first sucker ever, recently, on still potted Alberic Barbier. It was impossible to get right down in the pot to tear it off at the roots so I expect a return visit, no leaf counting required, it couldn’t have been more different to AB’s canes.
GdF - I had a feeling that would be the case @Marlorena, better get the ladders out then!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@purplerallim I'm glad you got the roses, it's only right after all, but Rumwood's seem very good. I would order from them.
Perennial Blue Standard is rather nice, it makes me want one actually..
..this is my 'Ghislaine de Feligonde' in its 2nd season. I would like to point out that, the original GdeF was huge and had been there some time. I had to remove it. This replacement was planted just 2 feet away, so I used mycorrhizal fungi in the planting hole, the only time I would use this. [No bone meal]... just a precaution, but it's doing well..
'Pirouette'.. a modern climber.. ..and two lovely roses..Â
@Lizzie27 Glad you had a nice day out, that place looks really interesting. I've not heard of it before, but your photo makes me want that rose back in my garden again..
@Marlorena@Eustace I see you both grow Blush Noisette and the flowers look lovely. Would it make a good obelisk rose and does it have any vices please such as a martyr to blackspot
@andrewnewton I grow Blush Noisette against a pillar. Yes, IMHO it will make a nice obelisk rose as the stems are quite flexible. Deadheading is needed for repeat flowering - it is quite easy; just shake the plant.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
Golden Anniversary looking great today. Now covered in buds. I have already cut five blooms for the house and the perfume fills the air! Campanula 'Telham Beauty' in the background. The third of my six roses, 'Wildfire' (a patio rose I believe), has quite a few buds now but is not yet in flower. I haven't seen any of my roses featuring on this thread but am really enjoying everyone else's!Â
Rosa gallica getting ready to bloom. It's curtseying already under the weight of buds.....
And 'Chapeau de Napoleon' open at last. Fascinating buds, scrumptiously full flower, a real old rose scent.....but more black spot than usual this year. I'm torn between this and 'Queen of Denmark' for a favourite scent, the latter is lighter and slightly fruitier. I think 'Chapeau' is my favourite.
'Queen of Denmark' before fully open, I like the deeper pink centre at this stage.
@Marlorena Mutabilis has a nice maroonish colouring on its stems.. and DdeB looks tempting.. anything with a strong scent is....
Why I asked for BMS pic was to look at the thorns.. now comparing this to Athleas's pic, what do you think..?
thorns closer to ground
wow @purplerallim two more roses.. you can create a separate bed for all the blue moons you got.. they are not very bushy, so I guess they would look good in a cluster..
@WhereAreMySecateurs both are fantastic roses.. you would not regret buying them.. I am loving the way standards are blooming.. only thing to dislike would be the support needed.. wondering if they get thicker over time to support themselves?
Thanks to those who posted photos of their Roald Dahl. Its buds are much darker than the ones on my not-Elizabeth.Â
I’m still not convinced though that it’s BMS as the flowers look so much paler than Marlorena’s. Salvia’s not-Elizabeth looks like it’s also quite pale like mine. That’s a photo from earlier today:
Those, who have Bring Me Sunshine, could you please post a few photos of yours?
