Mary Rose, new to me this year, but i really like her already and Young Lycidas, a floppy mess but forgiven for its lovely proffusion of very fragrant blooms.
Only planted them this spring @cooldoc so have no idea yet. Went for Twice as was hoping a newer cultivar had more protection from disease, as Blue Moon tended towards being sickly, but we are talking 35 years ago.😆
They look lovely @Omori, having bought my first standard I’m now inordinately interested in them!
Talking of which, I never really considered deadheading my Ghislaine and it’s a really tall standard. Do those that have her have to deadhead her regularly or does she just bloom on regardless?
@Imprevu and everyone else you are very welcome to my heat, I’m hoping it will pass over us soon, phew!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Today I watered roses in ground. First time this year and I did it with a hose in one hand and managed to deadhead in parallel with scissors in the other hand. Yey I can multitaskÂ
Those with most spent flowers got most water as it took longer to deadhead.Â
@Marlorena@Oliya @ MuseLea, regarding the wrong rose, ie BMS instead of Elizabeth -Â
I think you’re right, it probably is BMS. It does have those red thorns, just like Marloren’s photo, and yes MuseLea, it doesn’t look like your Roald Dahl. I was going by the colour, but it’s certainly not thornless.Â
It’s my birthday in a couple of weeks and I was thinking of getting Tottering by Gently, so I think I’ll go for those and think about what bare roots to get to replace the BMS in the autumn. The BMS s will be moved elsewhere in due course. Yes, I wonder how many people have had the same thing happen?  Anyway, I’ll stop going on about it now and just enjoy them. Many thanks for your advice and helpful opinions.Â
@cooldoc I have 'Lovely Parfuma', I find it's similar to Scepter'd Isle for scent.. I like all these scents in roses and never get the 'strange smell' some people often report.. Austins seem to be the strongest in this department, but as I said I also like the more delicate tones of 'Artemis' [Sweet Child of Mine] and JC.. I also like the tar like, almost diesel, scent given off by Dame Judi Dench, Jayne Austin and some others of this group.. my favourite is the apple fragrance given off by so many Old Roses like Blush Noisette, Aimee Vibert, some ramblers etc..
Here are is a pic of BMS foliage.. ..now temps have hit the 80s here I'm getting much more from Elizabeth, more like the sweet old rose description..  I think they look nice together, I'm not averse to pink and yellow roses together..
..lovely morning roses from everyone today, including companions plants... Goldfinch is gorgeous too.. one can see the close resemblance to its 'daughter' Ghislaine de Feligonde..Â

Here is Goldfinch, awkward pics as it’s growing over the coal shed and I’m not exactly the tallest in the world 😜 Lovely fragrance.Â
