Welcome @FledglingCottageGardener , seems like a lovely challenge with probably lots of surprises .Â
Still no flowers on this side. Everything , except Robe Fleurie , is budding away , even my slow starters MH and GdF. I have pruned out dried and dead buds from Pink Cloud she is really struggling .Â
@FledglingCottageGardener welcome from me too! Looking forward to seeing what your roses are. Seconding Mr Vine eye, green Alkanet is that blue flower, bees love it. Has weird fuzzy leaves I recal!
@Mr. Vine Eye@JessicaS I have done some googling and I think you are correct when you say Green Alkanet. It is rampant in the garden, smothering everything, so it looks like I have a big job on my hands. Thank you for identifying it for me.
No promising rose buds for me too. The peonies have fat buds showing colour. I am hoping as soon as they flower, the peony curse will kick in and we will have heavy rain. Whole garden needs it desperately now.
Most of my peonies were planted by previous owner of the house. I have to say they are tough plants growing at very shaded area, next to large shrubs and survive in the cape fuschia root network. They fill in the blooming gap between camellias and roses.Â
Envy you your paeonies, newbie. They are gorgeous, and I hope you post pics when they come out. I always intend to plant some in the autumn but never do!
Looking like another bumper summer for Boscobel, it's absolutely full of buds. It was sensational last year, it's first year. Never got even a hint of BS or any other disease, but the downside was those pesky sawflies took a liking to it so I had to be constantly vigilant.
