Would it still be possible to dig up and replant a very underperforming Thomas a Becket. It's been in the ground for about 3-4 years now, so I suspect it's formed quite a few roots, some of which might get damaged on digging it up.
@peteS - anything’s possible, so long as you accept that it won’t do much this year after being moved this late. Will need extra attention too while it sorts its roots out
@andrewnewton, I have two borders, one with pink/purple roses and the other with apricot/orange/yellow ones. I like them both the same. I agree with Nollie that there is a lot more variance in colour on apricot/orange/yellow ones than in pink ones.Â
@peteS when you say underperforming, what do you mean? This rose is a bit floppy for me but it repeats well. I would think it would still be ok as long as soil is moist enough.
I didn't use to like yellow / orange tones so much, but the health, beauty and performance of Arthur Bell and Lady of Shalott in my garden have reversed my thinking. Have planted a few more warmer coloured perennials this year.
Purple/white/pink beds are safe. Every year for a while I have had a bed that's essentially foxgloves, fuchsias, lobelias and a purple rose, all pastely and tasteful. Tbh I am over it. This year it's getting a revamp and I am chucking some bright red and hot pinks in there like a bomb, inspired by the magnificent bright red and yellow tulips currently catching the spring sun in my garden. 🌷
I think my concept of what constitutes a ‘pink’ rose is rather more elastic than most! I never take many general shots, so on the pink front this is all I could dig up @andrewnewton. Perennials include nepeta, salvias verticillata and caradonna, an unnamed agapanthus, verbena bonariensis and white gaura.

@WhereAreMySecateurs that’s Clematis Warsawska Nike growing up through a wisteria. I’ve actually just replaced it with an Etoile Violette as WN didn’t have enough height to train it right up. WN moved to an obelisk more suited to it’s size. Only looks lush until about May!
@Fire I did post a series of walkthrough photos either last year or the year before, not sure I kept them but will have a look, or try and find a map! The plot is a series of narrow, irregular terraces running east to west, staggering up a hill, surrounded by evergreen oak forest. The square house sits in the middle of the lowest terrace with a skinny strip to the south and north. Entrance to the house via the east garden (pictured above). Backdoor leads onto the patio and west garden (warm colours). Not sure if that helps you picture it.
