I was very impressed with your Ivor's Rose Nollie, I had always admired catalogue pics of it but discounted it because of your reports. I will watch with interest.
The thread has gone quiet, are people between flushes or a bit disillusioned by the effects of the weather? I have a bit of both . There is colour in the border roses but the blooms aren't great close up. With my cossetted pot pets I can control more so there are still nice things.

@Tack - although I’ve finished work now, that build up to the end of term has really taken it out of me. I’ve been spending my spare time, what little there is, napping!
Did do some deadheading today. Garden’s looking very patchy and very much in need of rain. A few things like the eryngium and buddleia are looking good but almost everything else, including the roses are resting.
'Natalie Nypels' has been a disappointment, but was put in as a bare root last winter, so early days I suppose. It's very spindly but I think I can see where shoots may yet break.
Also here a lot away . annual leave and staying at the sea side combined with also travelling for work… last week I was in Manchester ( hot), and today back and forward to Valencia .out of the roof that heath … but this evening I found finally 30 minutes to dead head and just walk in the garden. I must say most of the them are fine ,Some crisped. Maybe lucky because I’m mainly in between flushes. Julia child is just blooming away and walferdange is really a heat resistant rose . Tomorrow I shall try to tidy up the climbers.Â
Tack and Eustace you are keeping the thread going admirably, lovely selection of roses both. Sorry to hear your Natalie is disappointing so far, Eustace, I’m sure it will pick up in it’s own sweet time.
Huge relief here - last night we actually had some rain after many parched months and the air feels blessedly fresh this morning. I’m hoping it’s more than a brief interlude, since more rain is forecast, heat warnings have reduced from red to amber and it’s due to drop to below 30c soon. So lovely to see raindrops on roses again!

A peachy Golden Celebration:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
We too had some rain last night and expect to have some other this evening.Â
Rose Clair Matin has started to bloom again
Not a rose, this is Abelia Edward Goucher, a very nice shrub with arching stems that blooms from June to October. Bees love its little flowers, which have a very delicate fragrance, and it has a very nice foliage. I like it very much

The last rose on 'Queen of Denmark' until next June.

There’s a bee on the left, if you can see it
My prettiest roses are all out... Eustacia V, Boule de Neige and Tess. BdeN is always out...
But mostly I am enjoying the annuals coming out, from mixed seed packets,
so I don't know what weird colour combinations we're going to getÂ
