If anyone has ordered from Peter Beales and wondering what's happened to your order, this is part of an email I just received from them..
''Please note, our advice service is experiencing a huge volume of enquiries at the moment and response time can be around 2 weeks.
If your query is regarding delivery time for an order, all containerised roses are usually sent within around 10 working days. Please bear with us, as we are currently taking more orders than we’ve ever experienced at this time of year and are working with fewer team members in order to maintain social distancing.''
That is a stunning array of roses @cooldoc, there seem a few more than last year!
I have had a Beales order in for longer than 10 working days and got a similar message apologising this morning Marlorena.
The temp here is 30.2 DegC in deep shade, the concrete patio is frying. I've dragged Odyssey, Faustinia, Blue River and Chandos Beauty under cover because of new blooms starting to crisp. Luckily most of the potted roses are budded up rather than blooming but the ones that are flowering without crisping are Bring Me Sunshine, Ruby Mella, Olivia Rose A and Heidi Klum (also the white unknown).
@murasaki Peach Melba has very healthy foliage and a medium scent. The flowers last quite well. Unfortunately, this year it has decided to throw 2m canes with flowers at the top. I’ve also planted it in part shade, in a place where it cannot be trained horizontally too much. I’m not sure it’s a compact climber, at least not for me.
@Marlorena Have you any idea Marlorena what this might be. It was taken down my local park today in their 'rose' garden. I'm pretty sure it is a DA as the sign on show indicated as much. A few had ID labels, but most didn't. This one was surprisingly upright, whereas the rest had the characteristic DA droop. Hardly surprising really, as they were all badly neglected and unloved.
Fabulous roses @cooldoc, makes me feel cool and happy just looking at them.
It’s pretty brutal for all roses here. The hot Saharan winds are back again, the forest is tinderbox dry and most worrying of all, the local river has dried up for the first time.
Can’t judge any rose fairly in these conditions of course. I thrilled when Dee-Lish woke up, only to be disappointed to see this, even though I had moved it into full shade:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Mine is nowhere near a bright yellow @Eustace even in bud, and it's creamy yellow by the time it opens. I was only wondering what it was so I can look after it properly. It seems the first start was to get it out of full sun, now its a case of containing its enthusiasm to grow.😁

Edited to add: mine is in the hot sun almost all day.
