@Marlorena Thanks for your input on Blush Noisette. It's information like this that makes this forum so valuable and also the generosity of members to share
@Marlorena I thought aboutĀ 'Comte de Champagne' too (it such a beautiful rose!) but mineās got different shape of the flower and petals. Maybe itās a new variety that was supposed to be released next year?š¤š I wrote back to DA and asked them to at least identify the rose theyāve sent me. Overall, it was not a customer service I expected of DAā¦
@Rojas Your Wellbeing is beautiful! How long do the flowers last? Iāve read somewhere that they are very short lived and donāt last for more than three daysā¦
I did a little bit of gardening in the afternoon yesterday. Couldnāt do too much. I canāt function in temperatures higher than 17 degrees š
But I weeded a bit - mulching this year has been so helpful. Weeds are just a non-issue and I donāt have to worry that Iām not checking often enough. The few that had grown were very easy to spot and remove.
Did first round of deadheading and thatās great as I got a chance to see the new growth up close. Royal Jubilee is starting to bush out and fill in the gaps. Malvern Hills is pushing out strong canes exactly where Iād hoped for them to be to fill in patchy sections of wall for next year.
And my cheapo Princess Alexandra of Kent, after three years, has now finally put out new basal growth.Ā
There are a lot of armchair āexpertsā who simply regurgitate rubbish theyāve seen online and pass it off as advice.
Anyone who looked at your photo of that rose and claimed it was āOne Giant Suckerā - clearly didnāt Ā have the faintest idea what they were talking about. Thatās the problem with platforms like FB. Very easy to quickly post comments and rubbish information gets seen and spread.
There are people who have heard of suckers, they know that they are something to fear, but they donāt have any understanding of what they actually are! Thatās why I always say to people, if you actually had a sucker, then you would know - because they stick out like a sore thumb. You donāt have to sit and count the leaves to check š
Ive not had any this year. Malvern Hills has won the battle against its rootstock.
Absolutely @Mr. Vine Eye, youtube similarly, nothing beats knowledge and advice based on personal experience.
Itās great to see your roses in context @Omori, what a beautiful garden you have.
@Rojas really healthy looking roses you have. I have nearly bought Royal Parfuma so many times. ItāsĀ known as GrƤfin Diana in Europe, these multiple names are confusing to say the least!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
