@Marlorena Guess there are enough and more aphids to feed their whole family in my small garden.. they are having a feast for free.. saw a few broken buds today, probably the sparrows...
@Mr. Vine Eye nice vid.. shame we cannot upload them here.. vids gives a better picture of foliage/plant and blooms.. loved @Fire 's fox vid.. (I know, a bit late to comment.. busy with job.. just enough time to press like)
I never tried to upload vids in Youtube.. something to consider when I have more free time...
@JessicaS That pergola with Wisteria is perfect...
Anyone planning for Chelsea trip..? might have better luck with Rose stalls there..
@Mr. Vine Eye love your videos.. your roses all look so healthy. Do you spray at all? I’ve moved five of my roses to my allotment plot this year and they have been doing very well.. I’m looking forward to seeing how large they will get now that their roots have free roam in the ground.. your lady of shallot is truly gigantic!Â
@cooldoc I went to Chelsea last year and was a little disappointed with it.. part of that was because David Austin did not have an exhibit but I felt like there’s so much emphasis on trade stands while I was hoping to see more plants.. perhaps I had the wrong idea of what a flower show should be.. I thought the clue was in the name..Â
On another note, my yellow Sunsprite has flowered this weekend.. it has been the first to flower on my balcony for four years in a row now!Â
It smells so gorgeous.. and interestingly it was the scent that alerted me to the first bloom.. I have been so busy at my allotment getting all the beds ready for the big end of May plant out that I just haven’t been paying enough attention to my balcony garden but as I stepped out onto the balcony yesterday I was greeted by a distinctive waft of fragrance.. and to think that waft came from just one single bloom! I am yet to figure out what sort of weather conditions make these fragrances ‘waft’ and linger in the air - but when it does.. it truly is a wonderful sensation to experience.Â
Mr Vine, if you Google ‘royalty free music’ sites will come up that you can download from. A lovely vid you made, so many buds. Such a neat garden. GdF has exploded! I’m so wishing that a) mine will do the same b) that I planted it earlier, instead of Moonlight. But we learn as we go, I guess. Vertical rose learning curve.Â
Nice to see you Celsius.Â
My friend sent me some pics of my garden. Interesting to see pics and views I did not take. 😆
@cooldoc - yes, it would just cost too much for a website like this to store videos - the file sizes are huge. That's why they allow embedding and external linking instead. It's actually very easy to upload to YouTube.
@Fire - that's what I do for the music. It's just time consuming finding something suitable. I gave up yesterday and just grabbed anything!Â
@celcius_kkw - thanks, yes Lady of Shalott has really taken off this year. Mass of growth.
I don't spray, and actually while I don't have much in the way of fungal issues at the moment. They're covered in aphids. Especially Ghislaine. Maybe not visible in the video but the buds and tips of growth are all covered in them. Malvern Hills - its leaves are all sticky and shiny with the honeydew excreted by the aphidsÂ
My healthiest looking ones are Kew Gardens, lady of Shalott, Vanessa Bell and definitley the potted Desdemona at the end of the video. Actually Rhapsody doesn't look too bad either.
Royal Jubilee does actually have a touch of blackspot on some leaves.
I agree @Marlorena GOL looks quite different to EvS to my eyes apart from the foliage as you say. Presumably just mislabelled en-route to the new world, all the European ones seem to be ‘correct’ but who knows..
That clematis Okoshiro is quite something @JessicaS, lovely pics of the show.
@Fire you are giving your neighbours a great rose display there, hope they appreciate it!
No sign of any of my oranges and lemons roses yet, it’s all pinks and purples on the cusp..
First bloom of new Etoile Violette:
Munstead Wood nearly there:
Just love Rose de Rescht’s jaunty buds:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@celcius_kkw Yes, the climbing reds are peaking now and I’m away. Ho hum. I hope your Etoile is doing well. I’d love to see it. Mine is the one by the shed, climbing from the left. The photo does show the direction of growth. I have a wire from the shed to the big arch, (towards the camera) so Etoile is growing in three directions.Â
— you can see the wire more clearly here, where Etoile runs from the shed to the big arch.Â
This is the first to flower in my garden, Mdme Alfred Carriere, planted on NW corner and trained to go round the corner. As you can see there's not much room for planting at the side or at the front of the house so although Madame A C might be a bit too much in a small space it does a good job.Â
