  • hello! I do have quite  a few roses so I am keen to keep abreast of this new thread but i usually look away and there are 25 more pages <3 Love seeing the pics.

I was wondering if anyone could offer an insight into the habit, performance etc of any of the following:

    Tottering by Gently
    Commandant Beaurepaire
    Bonica as a standard rose

    Thanks x

Thanks everyone for your useful advise. It not as well established as yours @owd potter but clearly has roots and new growth. I have started to put it outside now as the days are warm and sunny and I think I will keep it potted for at least another year just to be on the safe side. Thanks again.

oh and has anyone bought from the Fragrant Rose company? Tess has sold out on the DA website and I did want to add it this year, as I have a sunny bit of fence crying out for it. FR have some they say...
  • Thank you very much as always, Marlorena. You sre so generous with your knowledge. This site is so lucky to have you.🌸 My husband has today assembled me two more obelisks and I haven't decided what to grow up them, and I can't wait to see your TBG tomorrow.

I've just noticed your other question... Fragrant Rose Co. are the same as Style Roses of Lincolnshire, just trading under a different name. Many of us here use this rose nursery and I don't think any of us have been disappointed.. they provide top quality roses..  order with confidence..

Marlorena, could you tell me what is the best way to tackle 3-4 stems on my Chianti which have gone a bit mad. They've shot up to about 6ft and are whippy affairs. Should I prune them down to match the other more normal length stems. Cheers.

You should peg them down, or use stakes to tie the canes and stabilise them,  so they produce shoots all down the stems, they will provide you with lots of blooms this summer... prune after flowering..

Zugenie will have to do this too with his 'Variegata di Bologna' in time.. Nice roses!
